Guest guest
Written yesterday: Yesterday, we went to that antique store I have been yammering on about. It was so much fun, mostly because we were out of the truck, we were walking and being able to look at things besides the road and truck stops. A fabulous change of pace...considering the last time we did this was right before Christmas in 2009! Anyways, there were two floors of over priced pseudo antiques. Lots of things from my childhood days. I am hardly an antique, and neither are cabbage patch dolls and Barbies from the 1990's. The doll selection was dismal. One true antique with a price tag of $950 that was there the last time I was there, so obviously they aren't making any sales. There are better chances of a true antique on eBay at half that cost. But the rest was enjoyable, I did find vintage buttons and trims for my sewing, a knitting gauge and a very nice Bates circular knitting needles in size 0. Yippy, she only charged $1! I also found a vintage old fashioned metal phone, a tiny used bottle of perfume and a small diary from 1961, which are items for my dolls. A garishly delightful French provincial TV which made me laugh (but I wanted it!), and I adored this old toy stove: Imagine, that it really heats up! I saw the heat coils under the cooking holes on top. I wonder how many children may have burned themselves on it, perhaps it didn;t get that hot? I wanted this time, but at $55 it was out of my price range. This morning we went to the restaurant next to the truck stop for breakfast. It had a conference room open with lots of men wandering about (maybe 40?) and there were about 5 tables with customers. Only one waiter handled it all! He did remarkably well. Apparently it was a local farmer's meeting. There was a small breakfast buffet set up, bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages, fried potatoes, biscuits and gravy and mini pancakes. It was cheaper to have the buffet than anything on the menu, so we opted for that. Yum for me as I could have all meat! I tried the scrambled eggs, but I could tell they were made from powder, so I stuck to the bacon and sausages, on my second round, I had a small amount of bacon and put just a tiny spoonful of the sausage gravy on it. Just enough to taste. I am weak around sauces. It has been bitter cold, below zero in temps. I had another trigger to deal with yesterday, so I need to address it. It came innocently enough, but as triggers go, it still had a sting to it and I had a reaction. Since we had all this time on hour hands for the day, after breakfast, I headed back to the antique mall for another go at looking and walking. I was on a mad hunt to make sure i didn't miss any hidden dolls or vintage sewing things. I returned 3 hours later and it was well past lunchtime. I wasn't hungry at all and since my husband had already eaten, I decided to wait until hungry. I felt it about 3pm, and cut a 2 inch piece of summer sausage and wrapped it in a piece of paper towel and nibbled on that. When my husband saw it, he said " wow, that's a huuuuuge piece of meat! " I looked at him and said " so? " . It's that same old thing we do not see eye to eye on, that went very low carb, we can eat a bit more than when high carb. But I could argue the point until I am blue in the face, we simply have different views. Calorie for calories, he still eats far more than I do, so I felt all touchy and beaten down that my piece of sausage was so remarkably huuuuuge. I sat with this until bed time, feeling attacked and trying to let it pass on it's own time. It didn't help when it was time for dinner, I wasn't hungry again, and yet I ate the two chicken sausages and a small bit of carrot, because I cook for two and that's that. I went to bed feeling full and still irked. Written today: The meat load wasn't ready, so we will most likely be sitting here all day. It is snowing and grey. Weigh in day. Could it be that my thick winter socks weigh at least .5 pounds? I wish. So a measly .5 pound loss by the best that I can read the photo on an analog scale. Still no where near the 232 that I achieved in the beginning of December. It could be some sodium issues, as I noted that I was very thirsty yesterday, probably from the sausages and bacon. Since I felt a loss was happening all week, I am not feeling upset or anything, knowing it will come in time. For a lack of interesting things to do, I took a photo of the ketone reading and the BG reading. and I am so very happy with those readings. All is in place as it should be. I will not alter anything for the upcoming week. I like it where it is. If I don't lose anything by next Saturday, I will see what changes I can do. And one last photo as it was different than some of the other photo's of my meals. This one is liverwurst on provolone slices. I often use cheese slices as my bread. -- Posted By i Mouse to Mindful i Mouse at 1/22/2011 08:25:00 AM
