Guest guest
Very Interesting. I had bought some balsamic vinegar to use with the olive oil that I put on the cubed summer sausage, cucumber, grape tomatoes and cheese that I usually have for lunch. I sprinkled it very lightly so it would not overpower the salad. I took a bite and noticed the vinegar. That surprised me. Not the vinegar flavor, but that I didn't taste the flavors of the other foods! I then ate each cube of each item, trying to taste the item, the combination of the item with the vinegar and then realized that even though I like balsamic vinegar, I really didn't like not being able to taste the different flavors of the other foods. Imagine that, me, getting fussy over food! What a weird place mindful eating brings me to. I am starting to care about what I eat. I am not fussing over calories, I am not fussing over portion size, I am fussing over the taste. Just weird. I have discovered that I like plain olive oil on my salad and nothing else. No seasoning, no vinegar. Don’t tell anyone, they’ll think I lost it. -- Posted By i Mouse to Mindful i Mouse at 1/12/2011 12:18:00 PM

I don't like most salad dressings and lots of time just eat them dry. I was never a vinegar lover and when I *do* do dressings they would always be the creamy ones.
