So much bad weather over so much of the country! I hope everyone in

the Deep South is ok with those ice storms.

Amazing how opposite ends of the country have the same predictions,

except ours in Tuesday night into Wednesday.

so I watch a game or movie on the main one and then put in

an exercise DVD in the other one.

In this room I have the little tv set hooked up to the cable from a

room away (cable splitters - a great invention!) so I can have the

tv on while at the computer. Many mornings I keep the tv on a new

program but muted while I do my workout using the computer, mainly

because at 22" LED screen it's the best thing in the house.

Started New Year's at one number, a few days later down 4 pounds,

then up a few, down a few, so this morning I'm down a total of 3.5

since the first of the month. Better than UP that much. LOL

single and alone. I can also see his point, really. He

cannot see having a 3 year engagement so says when I can

tell him I can move there and we can plan a wedding, he has

no problem getting engaged/married to me. So, I told him it

doesn't have to be an engagement ring right now and sent him

a picture of a "promise ring".... it shall be interesting to

see how the visit goes this next weekend.

Your place has such liberal - and many - vacation policy! With all

those trips to California and the time off for your surgery you

*still* had perfect attendance. It's only the 10th day of the new

year and already Ed had to take one day off for the snow on his own

dime when trains weren't running. Now with another storm coming

Tuesday night on top of all the ice and snow we still have around

here, if the trains aren't running Wednesday morning he'll be forced

to take yet another day unless the powers that be decide to give

them all another day off with pay.

Even schools only give a certificate to hang on your wall. At least

those rare kids who go through their entire pre-k through high

school with no absences get a mention in the newspaper to go along

with that piece of paper, no other rewards.

That's one thing I hated about *every* place I ever worked. They

told you to stay home if you're sick, BUT if you do, you have to

jump through hoops to *get* those days (I've had supervisors tell me

I *can't* stay home and HAD to come in sick or lose my job) then

have to bring in a doctor's note to prove you were really sick,

infecting the entire waiting room. If you did stay home and get that

doctor's note that said you can stay home for a whole week or more,

you get an official reprimand for taking unapproved days off. And

any day you take off comes from your vacation time, so rather than

use time that you would use doing something pleasurable, people come

in sick.

I'm so glad I don't work outside the house any more.

For example, I am leaving at 1:00 Wed to go to the surgeon's office to have the knee checked and I can either make up the time or use vacation/PTO time and it won't ding me since I requested it 48 hrs in advance. I do like that part of the policy.
