Guest guest
Yesterday was the first day back on the truck. All went as usual. We did have to drive until 11 pm, but we got a good night's sleep and we feel refreshed this morning. Since it was Saturday (my weight in day) I decided to go ahead and make it official, even though I think a couple of days on the road would get rid of the fluid retention I always get on home time. But something different happened. I did not have the huge fluctuation that I have ALWAYS had on home-time. I am frankly, shocked. Weight this morning: I have never had a mere 2 pound increase, it has always been 7-15 pounds! It's not like I didn't have increased calories, I did: So what could the difference be? The carbs are definitely a factor, however I have had a couple of high readings: I can see that 55g carbs a day gets my BG up too high. This is important for me to know. I don't see a problem to be able to have 55g carbs now and then, but as a rule, it seems my best level is around 30g or less. Fine with me. I don't want diabetic complications, no thank you. I also did not drink any brandy while home, although on the last day, I did have cocktails with my parents and Mother served cold shrimp with cocktail sauce and bugle corn snacks. I had 3 plain rums and the snacks, but I counted it honestly. So I feel that it wasn't particularly that hard liquor would do me in with calories or affect my BG, but not drinking it everyday while home did help me from being extra hungry for snacks. While it has always been a hard choice for me to drink or not drink, I think that I need to keep it off the table until I reach a normal weight. In 5 weeks, I will be home for a month, I need to be able to keep it all going in the right direction. Which brings me to my goal here on the 5 week run. I want to firmly get into the 220's in weight. I had wanted to be under 200 by my trip to Hawaii, but that simply is not going to happen. But perhaps, 220's is manageable. I am so irked at the apartments for not having the pool heated while I was home, I will be sure to harass them for March and April! As I did not post yesterday, here are my last two days of eating: This one has the cocktails at my parents, plus out last meal at home, where I made spaghetti for my husband and I just ate the sauce. Then our first day back on the truck: Carbs are too high, because I had the sugar free Dove chocolates and the wasa. Mom had given us some strong stinky cheese and I wanted it very badly on the wasa. I shared the rest with my husband this morning, so I had 2 more wasa. After today, that is done and I should be able to drop my carbs and calories back down a bit more. BG this morning was 100, that is mostly likely the chocolate and the wasa. Ketones were small (15) but that is from the higher carb intake and yet I was not kicked out on hometime….HOORAY! As long as I know what I am doing and the effects of my choices, I am on the right path to change. -- Posted By i Mouse to Mindful i Mouse at 2/05/2011 09:40:00 AM
Guest guest
In 5 weeks, I will be home for a month, I need to be able to keep it all going in the right direction. .... so you'll be home for a month, then to Hawaii for a year, then so long USA and over the ocean you go? Guest guest
Hi , not quite. After I get back from Hawaii, it will be about 2 more years in the truck. The year in Hawaii is a “job†for me and I will earn enough money to knock a year off of trucking for my husband. So, three years from now, we should have set aside enough money to return to Denmark on the Queen II and buy a house (paid in full) and live on the remainder until our pensions kick in. So far, everything is on schedule. Our back up plan (should trucking no longer be an option) is that once I return from Hawaii, we will have enough money to return to Denmark without the ocean cruise and with part time jobs in Denmark. So this next year is critical to our plans. From: ABrite@... Guest guest
Oh that's cool. I knew Hawaii was a year to work for your daughter while her hubby is deployed, didn't know there were still 2 yrs on the truck after that Re: [Mindful i Mouse] Home Time Analysis and Weigh In Hi , not quite. Guest guest
I congratulate you on figuring that all out and having the drive to make that dream come to fruition. You are truly an inspiration to me in so many ways *~*~*~* "If I look down the road and see how far I have to go, I may get discouraged.
