Guest guest
COUGH, COUGH! Wednesday, 02 February 2011 Winter here in Los Angeles has been a little crazy for us this year. I mean, one day it's sunny and warm but the next day might bring rain and a temperature that drops to 42 degrees. Hey, I know that's nothing to many of you, (especially today), but for us, used to sunny Southern California weather, 42 degrees is...cold! And every time the weather changes, I seem to end up getting a little congested. I woke up the other morning feeling just terrible. So I said to myself, ", you should make yourself a little something to eat. That'll help you feel better." So, I may myself some oatmeal, tried eating it but...it didn't do the trick. Not even able to finish the oatmeal, I tried a slice of whole wheat toast and some apple slices and, nope, it wasn't the answer either. Finally, I scrambled myself some egg whites and, wouldn't you know it? I couldn't get them down. I don't know about you but when I don't feel so good, my food doesn't taste so good to me either. And if my food doesn't taste good to me, you know I'm not going to eat it. This is what happens to many of us when we get sick,...our taste buds get sick, right along with the rest of our bodies. And what a way to lose weight...LOL! Just kidding. You really shouldn't force food down your throat when you're feeling under the weather, like I was feeling the other day. Yesterday, I boiled a whole chicken and after it was done, I let it cool then de-boned it. After I removed all the chicken from the bone, I added it back to the broth and ate from it all day long. For me, there's just something miraculous about a bowl of chicken soup. It really does make me feel better. And if you're not feeling so well today, I suggest you get yourself a chicken, put it into a pot of water and do like I did. Once the chicken is done, de-bone it and place the chicken meat back into the tasty broth you got from boiling it. You can make your soup even more nutritious and tasty by adding some fresh vegetables. Cut up some carrots, celery, onions and add them all to your soup. You can also cut up some fresh parsley and parsnips to give your soup even more flavor. Be creative as you make this chicken soup your own. I'm telling you, there's nothing more satisfying than a fresh, hot bowl of chicken soup, the real...comfort food. And don't forget to drink your water. See, when you're feeling under the weather because of a cold or flu, it's extra important to keep yourself properly hydrated. Those liquids help flush your body's system and help flush that cold or flu out of you, too! Hmmm, maybe I'll just launch my own brand, 's Healthy Healing Soups! They'll be available in supermarkets all over the country. And speaking of healing, I'm on the mend today, thanks to that wonderful pot of chicken soup I made for myself. And if you're not feeling so well today, it may be time to put a chicken in the pot for yourself. Make a comforting pot of chicken and vegetables soup that's gonna taste so good and help you get better, too! Love,
