Guest guest
I NEED A VACATION! Sunday, 26 December 2010 Well happy day after Christmas to all of you! So...how was your holiday? Was it truly a festive day for you yesterday? Well, I have to tell you, I'm exhausted and...I need a vacation! I got up at 4:00 yesterday morning and began cutting onions and celery to stuff my roasted chickens. I was in the kitchen for five hours! And let me tell you, my little fingers are tired. Oh, my arms were sore from all of the chopping, dicing and stirring. And I have dish water hands because I scrubbed clean every pot and pan after I finished using them. After the cooking part, the rest of my day was nonstop. I spent some time answering E-mails, calling people and, of course, the rest of Christmas Day with my brother and sister-in-law. (I told you a few days ago, they're here visiting me from New Orleans.) I worked so hard in the kitchen putting our meal together and really loved every minute of it. Then I had to set the dining room table for us all. Whew! By the time I sat down to have dinner, I was ready for our healthy, delicious meal. Oh, we had such a good time together, laughing, talking and reminiscing about growing up in New Orleans. After dinner, there was all of that cleaning to get done. So there I was, back in the kitchen, getting dish pan hands all over again. LOL. After everyone left, I lay on the floor next to Hattie, hugging and kissing her until she fell asleep. Later, after dragging myself upstairs, I fell fast asleep. What a great day I had yesterday. I think it was one of my best Christmases ever. But I have to tell you, by the end of the day, every bone and muscle in my body was aching. I was tired...but it was one of those good kinds of tired. So tell me...what did Santa bring you yesterday? I hope you got lots of the things on your Christmas wish-list. I got candles, DVDs and books. I also got aprons to wear and music to listen to while I cooked. (You know how much I love having that music playing in the kitchen when I'm cooking.) Well okay, one holiday over and another just around the corner. On this day after Christmas, the malls and super centers will be filled with people returning some of the stuff they got that either didn't fit or was the wrong size. Oh, what a headache. I'm so glad I don't have to return any of the fabulous presents I received. (Thank goodness, CDs don't come in sizes. LOL.) The other good news is that I have enough leftovers in the kitchen to have another dinner. So, thank goodness, there'll be no more cooking for me today! All I have to do is warm a few things up and...enjoy. And oh, one more thing I almost forgot to ask. Did you get on the scale this morning? (More about that tomorrow.)
