A LITTLE

DAB'LL DO YA!

Tuesday, 21 December 2010

There are too types of eaters in

this world during the holiday season and both of them

are trying to lose weight. We'll be discussing both

types of eaters today.

The first type of eater is the one who can make do

with just a little dab of some favorite

holiday delicacy. Oh, these people are simply

amazing. See, they can have just one of their Aunt's

homemade chocolate chip cookies during the holidays.

That's right, I said just one! They bite

into that cookie, savoring the taste and truth is,

they can be satisfied with just that little dab. They

wanted the taste of the cookie and enjoyed it. But...they

refuse to load up on 2, 3, 4 or...well, you get the

picture! (They're the ones who end up having

weight-loss success, too.)

Oh, I'm sure you know how hard it is to be a

dabber...one of those people who can be satisfied with

just a little dab of a favorite high-calorie food.

But, truth is, there are not a lot of

dabbers on this earth. LOL.

Now, the second type of eater

we're going to talk about is anything but a dabber.

And I'd say that, sadly, they constitute the majority

of us. The people in this group eat...and I mean they

really EAT!

Oh yes, they're the ones who go through the buffet

line and by the time they reach the end, the food on

their plate is piled so high, it looks like a

volcano on the verge of eruption! Once their plates

are overflowing with food, they have a seat, start

eating and don't stop until every single bite is

gone. But wait, I'm not finished. (And lots of

times, neither are they.) See, after they've finished

"round one," they may go back for seconds.

Oh, my...there's no dabbing going on when

they sit down to eat!

Now here comes the bad news, these people, after

eating this way, surprise...can easily carry

another two or three pounds with them when they return

home. And how do they feel now? Well, they

feel naughty and miserable. Their clothes feel tight

and their tummies feel like they're about to POP!

(Oh, talk about a Pepto-Bismol moment!)

Once they get home and undress, a quick glance in the

mirror makes them feel even worse. Then they start

criticizing themselves with comments like..."Why

did I eat like that tonight? I'd been doing so well

with my weight-loss. I'd actually been dropping a

pound-or-two a week. Now look. I've messed up my

weight-loss effort with this one night of being

careless. Ooohhhh, I'm so mad at myself!"

Some people, after a night of eating-excess, even get

on their scales to assess the damage. And when they

see how much weight they've gained in just a few

hours, verbally abuse themselves some more. You'd

think their experience would make them think

so they'd be better prepared the next time they're

faced with a choice of staying on program or eating

too much. But the bad news is that, too often...they

don't change. And because of that, keep right

on losing and gaining the same-old pounds

holiday-after-holiday, year-after-year.

Okay, in just a few days, you're gonna be faced with

platter-after-platter of some of the foods you simply

love to eat. So tell me, will you be a dabber

or will you be sitting at the table with a "volcano"

piled high on your plate?

I'll be checking in after the

holidays to see how you've done!

Love,
