Guest guest
THEY'RE COMING! Thursday, 23 December 2010 No, I'm not talking about Santa, his reindeer or even his elves. (Even though they are on their way. LOL.) But no, I'm talking about my brother, Lenny and his wife, ! Lenny and come to visit me in Los Angeles every Christmas. And oh, I do so look forward to their visits. I want everything to be just perfect for when they're here! I know my parents are looking down from heaven and love seeing my brother and I celebrating the holidays together, just like when we were kids. For years, Lenny and I shared a room together at home and we always got along. Now I have to tell you, I was just a little jealous of my brother. That's because he was so smart. (Being smart just seemed to come naturally for him.) Lenny inspired and encouraged me to do better in school. And okay, I never did quite master the whole straight-"A" thing on my report card, like he did. But he always helped when I needed to get my grades up. For our entire lives, Lenny and I have done a lot of laughing together. (He was my best audience.) I could make him laugh so hard that he would turn the color of a maraschino cherry. (And he still does! LOL.) And oh yeah, Lenny is very ticklish, too. Sometimes when I tickle him, he laughs so hard that he forgets to breath! So I take a little pity on him and let up. One of the things I love so much about my brother is that he's always let me be me...just plain-old Dicky. I've been cutting up and acting a little outrageous all of my life. Goodness, all of the things I've put him through! LOL. But Lenny has always been there to love and support me. I have to tell you what a good person my brother is. One thing he likes to point out is how much the two of us are like our parents. He's always said, "We're so much like Mom and Dad, aren't we?" And oh, how right he is. I can remember when Lenny met his future wife, . She was always with Lenny, my mother and I when I visited them in New Orleans at Christmas and all year long. (Lenny & were still romancing back then.) What a sweet and good gal my sister-in-law is. And when you see the two of them together, you can see how much she loves my brother. When we go out, the two of them hold hands. I'm telling you, they were just made for each other. Later today, I'll be looking out the living room window waiting them to arrive. When they do, I'll open the front door, rush out to open the gate then give my brother and really big hugs. Oh what a good time we're going to have during the holidays! And by the way, I hope you'll be around friends and family members you love for Christmas, too. But okay, I'd better run and make sure the house is all nice and tidy for their visit. Because it won't be long before I'll be shouting...Here they come! Love,
