Guest guest
RAIN, SHINE, SLEET OR SNOW Thursday, 06 January 2011 Oh, I just can't believe the weather we've been experiencing all around the country over the past couple of weeks. From torrents of rain, to paralyzing blizzards and even tornados, let's face it, our winter got off to a very rough start. Even usually sunny Southern California has been unable to escape Mother Nature's winter wrath. I'm telling you, the rain has just been pouring here in Los Angeles lately. I watch the news and can't believe the terrible mudslides I've been seeing in my part of California. Back east, a lot of people have been sending me photos of their homes. I'm just amazed at the amounts of snow I see piled up in some of their back yards. Some of them have to shovel their driveways every morning just to get their cars out! Wow! Now don't get me wrong. I like snow but, (but I may as well be honest), I like it better when I see it on a pretty postcard. Now here's some bad news to go along with all of the bad weather. A lot of people are affected by this horrible weather in a very bad way. See, the gray skies, the pouring rain and the ever-falling snow, often gets them very depressed. They end up having a bout of cabin fever and don't even want to leave their homes. They become like hermits, spending all of their time in the house. And wait, here comes the worse part, they end up grazing all day long! You know what I mean. They're lying there on the couch, watching TV and the only time they get up is when there's a commercial break. (And you know what for.) Yep, that's right, they leave the couch, finally. But...they head straight for the kitchen and walk over to the fridge. There, they end up getting something to snack on, head back to the couch and the TV, thinking the food is gonna somehow help them chase away their depression. Hey, that's no good! Tell me, how is overeating going to make you feel better about the bad weather going on around you? I don't want you falling into that category this winter. Don't mope...have hope! The bad weather? It too, shall pass. And instead of going back and forth to the fridge to help yourself "feel better," I've got a much better solution. How's about getting that body of yours moving! That's right. Pop in one of my DVDs and get in a good workout. I'm telling you, nothing chases away the winter blues and depression better than good-old exercise. Cold and snowing outside? Well, instead of moping, get that body of yours moving and warm yourself up that way! I know, its only early winter but remember, spring will be back. And, before you know it, you'll be outside planting flowers in your front yard. Okay, are you ready? Rain, shine, sleet or snow, that body of yours has got to...go, go, GO!
