Guest guest
Hello everyone- I am sorry I am not a very quick reader and responder of the posts lately or very good about posting my own updates. It's been a slow month for me since returning to work. I just looked at the calendar this morning and cannot believe I am going to be 6 weeks out from surgery on Tuesday! I am feeling rather comfortable right now and blessed with how my healing has taken me, even though I feel it is slow and want to be able to move more and faster. I met a lady this week that had a knee surgery about 4 weeks ago and she is still on crutches because they had to take bone from her hip and put it in her knee. Yeah. Ouch. I can imagine her healing and recovery is going to be slower than mine, so I will quitmycomplaining and just get on with life. Then, I heard about a guy that had a stroke following knee surgery because he had a blood clot that released. :'( I am sure both of these are the extremes that they warned me about at my pre-op when I had to sign my consents, etc, but still! Today is the first time my knee hurt and was sore following surgery and I think it is a weather-related thing and nothing to be alarmed about. I am certainly listening to my body and only walking right now for exercise and some days only in the 20-30 minute range of time. With that, note that some days 20 minutes feels like 2-3 hours! Right now, I have chicken breast, turkey (I hope) sausage, baked beans and veggies in the crock pot for dinner. It smells delish! It's a WW-friendly recipe I got off the WW-facebook page, so when I get back on the page and can retrieve it, I will post the recipe. I know you aren't all doing WW, but look for fantastic recipes you can use. In the WW world, this one says I think it is 9 pts. Part of me is "this close" to going back to WW "or something" but I need to look at the finances. I have even considered Curves again because I "think" it is a workout I can do with my knee. Not sure, I would need to talk with them, maybe the doctor too, and be cleared for that. I could probably skip the 2-3 machines that I know would not work for me. So. I managed to pull off a 2.2 lb loss for this week, but before you go congratulating me too heartily, I'll remind you I am at a net gain for the year, so right now I am doing end-of-the-year damage control. I couldn't take another net gain for the year, so hope to at least pull off a maintain for 2010 when all is said and done. I hope you are all doing well. I keep thinking that my fatigue and tiredness will get over and I will want to spend more time online looking at the posts and encouraging you all, but some days I just don't have the oomph beyond work and then what "chores" that I do to help out around the house. Now. Back away from the Halloween candy! LOL!!
