Guest guest
IT'S RICHARD SIMMONS! Sunday, 31 October 2010 When I first opened my exercise studio, Slimmons, in Beverly Hills, there was a husband and wife team who began attending class from the very beginning. They had five of the most amazing children I'd ever met. Sometimes, they'd even bring the kids to class with them. The nice thing is I've known them for so long that I've gotten to watch their kids grow up into adulthood. I often had dinner with their family or sometimes we'd attend a movie together. We always had such a fun time with each other. Well one year, the kids asked if I would take them all trick-or-treating. (Okay, so they begged me! LOL.) I got really excited at the idea of taking the kids out for Halloween. But the only problem was that it was so late, I didn't have time to go pick out a Halloween costume. But I did have a fabulous tank top with crystal spider webs on it and, in the middle of the tank top was a crystal, orange and black spider. Perfect Halloween outfit for me! So I put it on, along with a pair of my black-and-white striped Dolfin shorts and drove over to pick up the kids. Oh, they all looked so adorable in their Halloween costumes. And they each had one of those big plastic pumpkin pails to collect their Halloween treats. They lived right around the corner from Slimmons and it's a very residential neighborhood. So there would be plenty of houses for us to visit. Now can you imagine me taking five kids door-to-door trick-or-treating? We'd go up to each house, ring the doorbell and I would be standing there with the kids as we all hollered together..."trick-or-treat!" The person who opened the door would be standing there with a big-old bowl of Halloween candy ready to hand out their treats. But they would first look at the kids then look at me, stop in their tracks and shout..."It's !" A few times, this "guilty look" would cross their faces as they stood there with that bowl filled with fattening, sugary Halloween treats for the kids. One lady even invited us into her house and she ran to the kitchen and brought me back an apple. LOL! The kids thought it was funny and I remember laughing so hard with the lady who pulled that cute little stunt! After visiting about thirty houses, I was exhausted. And on top of that, I'd just about lost my voice from yelling trick-or-treat with the kids for well over an hour. When I dropped them off at home, their parents asked if they all had a good time. Their seven year-old daughter, Kim, said "I'm never going trick-or-treating again unless comes with us!" Oh, now just look what I'd started! LOL. Trick-or-treating is fun. It's great to walk up to a house, not knowing anyone there and getting big smiles from them as they open their doors. And, on top of that, they give you treats! Oh, such a deal! Every year, during my Halloween trick-or-treating back in New Orleans, after I visited my very last house in the French Quarter, I'd go to my bedroom with my trick-or-treat bag, now filled with sweet loot. I'd spread all of my candy across the bed and just look at my treasure before diving into it. And finally, I'd eaten so many of my treats that I just about ended up in a sugar shock! Someone E-mailed the other day and asked I if were going to eat candy on Halloween. And my honest answer was...yes! See, I have two mini Kit-Kat bars in my fridge for the special occasion this evening. And tonight, when the moon is full, I'll go out into my back yard and howl at the moon before enjoying my mini Kit-Kat bars. And now, you be sure and behave yourself with all of that candy around your house tonight, will ya? And consider this, when you step on the scale tomorrow morning, will see a trick or...a treat? BOO!
