Any surgery there's the danger of clots, but more so when it's on

the legs. It *is* rare, though.

Your area probably has real winter weather already. We're just

starting to get cold around the rest of the country.

sausage, baked beans and veggies in the crock pot for dinner.

It smells delish!

*Sounds* delish! It's food like *that* that makes me want to drop

kick the vegan food plan right out the window! I can substitute

vegan sausage but it's never quite the same because real meat has

those tasty fats in them. But alas, it's those same fats I have to

avoid for my cholesterol (sob).

>Part of me is "this close" to going back to WW "or

something" but I need to look at the finances.

You *know* what has to be done. Is there anything paying money for

you *need*? You can just follow the plan like you did before. Or any

of the other food plans you've used over the years. People mock the

"calories in, calories out" paradigm (I did, too, for many years).

But it *is* a truism. Unfortunately, we all need different calorie

levels. Elissa Anne found out she needs to eat under 800 to lose

weight, others can do it with as many as 1400.

> I have even considered Curves again because I "think"

it is a workout I can do with my knee. Not sure, I would need

to talk with them, maybe the doctor too, and be cleared for

that. I could probably skip the 2-3 machines that I know

would not work for me.

After going over all my aches and pains, pulled muscles and problems

from the arthritis in my spine and joints, my doc actually

recommended I join Curves, must minutes after warning me not to use

anything heavier than the 2 pound hand weights and doing a

manipulation on my arthritic (and partially frozen) right hip joint.

I asked why in the world would he recommend that place, knowing how

easily I'm getting injured doing what little I am now, and he

blushed and said he really doesn't know what they do there, just

that one of his nurses is now going and loves it so he's now

recommending it to his women patients. I described some of the

machines (Silently cursing him out for being a computer-phobe and

not having a computer in his office so I could just go to the web

site and show him) and he agreed that no, I shouldn't be using any

of those machines. He assumed it was just exercise classes. (sigh)

This is the same guy who suggested I use the food plan Spark People

make out for me, even after I told him they wanted me to eat 1700 to

over 2000 calories and he *knows* I gain weight eating over 1400,

then he got mad when I gained something like 15 pounds in the one

month I *did* use it. That was something else one of his nurses told

him about. She, too, gained weight on their recommended food plan,

which is why she joined Curves to help get rid of those new pounds.

Doctors just don't know anything when it comes to weight loss. They

guess at things as much as we do. We're just the test subjects in

these experiments!

> but before you go congratulating me too heartily, I'll

remind you I am at a net gain for the year, so right now I am

doing end-of-the-year damage control. I couldn't take another

net gain for the year, so hope to at least pull off a maintain

for 2010 when all is said and done.

I'm still down from January, but up from last month. At least you

had the surgery excuses (on the table twice, right?). I have my

injuries and now the thyroid is back in play.

> I keep thinking that my fatigue and tiredness will get

over

When's the lat time *you* had your thyroid levels checked? Mine

really crapped out after I hit menopause. Between the surgery you

had earlier on your girly parts and your increasing path towards

peri-menopause, perhaps your hormones are messing with you, too.
