Guest guest
IN JUST 17 DAYS... Monday, 08 November 2010 ....You'll be sitting down to have your big Thanksgiving Day dinner! Oh, the table will be set beautifully. And just think of all of the foods that'll be gracing your table. There's a plate of cheese and crackers to nibble on. A big colorful salad with blue cheese dressing is waiting, too. And let's see, there're mushrooms stuffed with crab meat. Oh, I also see a big bowl filled with assorted nuts. And of course, there's turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes with a bowl of rich, brown gravy to spoon on and hot-buttered homemade rolls. And oh yes, I see a variety of holiday desserts adorning that holiday table. Whew...I'm full! Well, thanks for coming. So tell me, what do you expect to weigh on...Thanksgiving Day? That's right, what will you weigh---in 17 days? Now here's something I want you to think about: You can lose more weight between today and the day you sit down for Thanksgiving dinner, 17 days from today. I have a challenge for you. Are you ready? Okay, I challenge you to stay on program for the next 17 days so you can sit down for Thanksgiving dinner...feeling lighter! Yes, your job is to plan 51 healthy meals for yourself before you "pass the fudge" on the 25th of this month. Plus, from now until Turkey Day, you have to drink 136 eight-ounce glasses of water. And you have to get in at least 17 hours of exercise between now and Thanksgiving Day. Now there's a reason I want you to focus on all of those numbers. Because if you match those numbers during the next 17 days, you'll be a few pounds lighter in time for Thanksgiving. Wouldn't that be great? And here's something else for you to think about. If you stay on program for the next 17 days, chances are you'll be less tempted to overeat, come Thanksgiving Day. Why? Well, because you'll be so doggoned proud of yourself that you'll not want to blow all of your hard work on that one holiday. And come on, you know that overdoing it on one big meal can really ruin all of your hard work. You don't want that, do you? Oh, of course not! I remember one year back in New Orleans that I gained five pounds on Thanksgiving Day! Before dinner was even served, I'd been sampling and nibbling the foods my parents had been preparing, all day long. My father would say to me "Dicky, come taste my gumbo and tell me if you think it needs anything." (Glad to, Dad!) I'm telling you, by the time my folks were finished cooking, you could barely see the top of our dining room table because there was so much food! It was like going to the Hometown Buffet! LOL. Okay, let's be honest. You could very well face the same kinds of food challenges I faced back in New Orleans, at your house, on Thanksgiving Day. So tell me, whatta you think? Can you stay on program for the next 17 days in a row? I think you can. In fact, I know you can. I believe in you and it's high-time you began believing in yourself. Start today by planning your meals and watching your fats and calories carefully. And oh yeah, don't go to bed tonight until you've worked out that body of yours. Well now, you've got my challenge. I hope you're up to meeting it and, as you do, you'll meet something else...success! You've got 17 days. Love,
Guest guest
I am thankful I will not have to deal with Thanksgiving this year as we will be on the road. And we certainly won't do the truck stop dinner as we did last year...way too expensive and tasteless goopy food. This year, because I have better cooking options, I will bring along a jar of red cabbage and a jar of gravy. If we can hit a Walmart the same day or day before, I will get a turkey breast or roll. I can at least then put together a dish that is close to a Thanksgiving dinner. I have been trying to think of a desert, but will probably be a baked apple with cinnamon. elisaannh -- 's motd Monday Nov 8, 2010 - Thanksgiving IN JUST 17 DAYS...
