Guest guest
HA! HA! I MADE YOU LAUGH! Sunday, 16 January 2011 My mother, Shirley just loved to laugh. She loved a good joke and she really loved funny movies. When we went to see a new comedy at one of the big movie theatres on Canal Street, Shirley laughed louder than anyone in the audience. As I looked over at her, I'd spot tears running down her cheeks because she was laughing so hard! And hey, that was all I needed. I'd start laughing right along with her. Then we'd be the two loudest people laughing in the theatre. LOL. In school, I was always the class clown. (And you're probably not surprised to hear that, are you?) From grade school all the way through my college years, I always loved making people laugh. But I'll bet you didn't know the benefits of laughter, did you? Well, let me tell you about them. When you laugh, your body actually has a surge of energy. And that energy surge helps reduce some of the stress you may be experiencing in your life. But wait...I'm not finished, there's more. Did you know that laughter even helps build your body's immune system? And, over time, laughter aides your body in regenerating more healthy cells. And why do you think you get all of these benefits from laughter? Well, when you're laughing, your body gets excited. And when you laugh, your whole body laughs with you. I'm serious...your body loves it when you get a good case of the giggles. In fact, I like to think of laughter as a "vitamin" for the body. I know, we've been through and are going through some very tough times in our country lately. And when we face hard times, lots of people tend to lose their sense of humor. This is not a good thing. See, when you're too serious all the time, you don't really have a chance to enjoy your life. And for that reason, I want you to make a promise to yourself that you will find more time to laugh in 2011! There're some funny movies in the theatres right now. Why don't you take one in? Oh, you know a movie series that really makes me laugh? Shrek! That's right, I guess you can call me a real "Shreker." I'm telling you, the Shrek series of movies gives me the giggles all the way through! Sometimes I'll go to the Classics movie channel and watch some of the old black & white comedies. And I still get big belly laughs when I watch The Three Stooges or an old Groucho Marx film. Or if I go out to see the latest comedy playing in the theatres, sometimes I laugh so hard, I feel like I'm sitting next to my sweet Shirley, just like all those years ago. And you know what? I have her laugh! So to all of you, I say...don't be a downer with a frowner. Find something to laugh about today! Love,
