Guest guest
Yesterday was filled with cooking problems. It seemed nothing worked. It was quite frustrating. It took many hours and many tried, but I finally got dinner hot enough to eat for my husband, but my sauerkraut had to be eaten cold which I certainly soon lost interest in. My blood sugar numbers have finally dropped to the 80’s and that is due to my carbs being as low as they are. I am so grateful to see the numbers drop. My husbands numbers are all nice and steady, but his remain above 100 as he is still eating bread and potatoes, but has given up the chocolate and ice cream…..he is still having some sort of sugar free candy in the evening, even though I told him that stuff if full of chemicals and it is better to have something simpler. That is up to him. Speaking of chocolate, we are at the Hershey plant in PA (on Chocolate Avenue), and wow, is the smell of chocolate overwhelming! They usually give truckers a bar at the gate….wonder how my husband will react to that….he is more of a chocoholic than I am. I don’t care for Hershey’s at all, so it won’t matter to me. My favourite is Lindt Intense Orange. Mmmmm. My desire for food has dramatically dropped. My desire for French brandy unfortunately has not. Sigh. I feel the ketones kicking in and doing their magic. I felt thinner this morning and my wedding band is loose and my jeans droopy. lol. I will weigh on Saturday if I can, it will depend on finding a public restroom I will feel comfortable enough to weigh in and if they have a handicap stall so I can have room to undress. Usually I wait until a shower day, then I can take photo’s in a private shower room, but we had our shower yesterday and it is too soon to expect to see any weight changes. Nothing more today, we have a full day and perhaps tonight I an take a photo of dinner, providing it cooks. lol We are in PA, pretty fall colours: Hula Hanna is our mascot. She keeps us entertained. lol -- Posted By elisaannh to The Little Bowl at 10/14/2010 07:31:00 AM

Sounds like me every time we moved, or when we got the new stove 2 years ago. All my old tips and tricks went out the window and I had to learn how to cook my usual foods all over again. >he is still having some sort of sugar free candy in the evening, even though I told him that stuff if full of chemicals Just remind him that too many of those sugar alcohols (like mannitol, etc.) can cause diarrhea. I'm sure he would hate to have THAT happen! LOL > Speaking of chocolate, we are at the Hershey plant in PA (on Chocolate Avenue), and wow, is the smell of chocolate overwhelming! That's my idea of heaven! Even though we live just a few hours away here in urban NJ we've never been there, even when our son was young. That's one of the hazards of having a kid who disliked all forms of cakes and candies, even chocolate. I constantly question whether he's my kid or not, possibly switched at birth at the hospital with another baby with a Polish surname. In fact one time his class was taking a trip there and he asked if he could stay home that day, that he really didn't want to go, since he hates chocolate and doesn't like to go on those amusement park rides, either. We wound up going ourselves to the local science center that day. His teacher gave him a chocolate bar she got for all the kids who didn't go and he gave it away to one of his friends.  > I don’t care for Hershey’s at all, so it won’t matter to me. Heathen! All chocolate is good chocolate, except for the really cheap stuff you find in 99 cent stores and look and taste more like plastic than a food product.  >We are in PA, pretty fall colours Beautiful! probably has great colors up where she lives, too. Our trees are barely changing although this is the week they're usually at peak most other years. I blame the weird weather. Yesterday we had our air conditioners all on and in the evening the landlord comes up tot ell us he's going to turn the heat on full blast for an hour to test the system. I expected a black hole to form - the radiators hissing away and the ACs at full blast. It took hours to get the bedroom cool enough to sleep in again and I still kept waking up in a sweat every hour or so overnight. Hula Hanna is our mascot. She keeps us entertained. lol A fat hula dancer doll? Cool! Good luck with the truck (And at Hershey's). Hopefully you'll find someone to go over the truck's systems and find out what the problem is before you're reduced to eating cold meals every day.
