OFF TRACK?

Monday, 22 November 2010

So, are you on-track or

off-track with your weight-loss efforts? You

know, a lot of people, in the months of November and

December, kind of cast their weight-loss fates to the

wind this time of year.

"Oh, I've been dieting off and on for ten months

now. And frankly, it's driving me crazy! So I'm

just gonna have a good time with what I eat for the

next two months. These are the holidays,

after all. Then on January 1st, I swear, I'm really

gonna begin my diet again...in earnest!"

Oh, boy. Now I don't

think that the above line of reasoning is such a good

idea. In fact, I know it's not! See, if

you're not currently watching your food intake and

working out regularly, you will have a

weight gain by January 1st. (Is that what you want?)

It's all about accountability, you know.

And let me tell you, there's no better way to have

accountability than by keeping a journal.

Your journal will become like your weight-loss Bible.

You'll record in the journal about, well...your

journey. The journey to the new you! You

begin that journey by listing in your journal the ten

reasons you want to lose the weight. I can help you

get started by naming a few of them right here. You

want to lose the weight for your health, your

longevity and for your peace of mind.

How about those for starters, huh?

The next thing you want to write

down is your starting weight. I know, this is hard.

Hey, it's one thing to see what you weigh on that

scale for just the couple of seconds you're on

it then...step off the scale. But to write it down in

black & white for yourself, that number is

recorded for eternity. (Or until some alien invaders

from the far reaches of space vaporizes them all.

LOL.)

But seriously, write down the date you begin your

journey and be sure to include your starting weight.

You should also write down the exercises you do each

day and how long you worked out. Write down

how you were feeling emotionally each day, too. And

by the way, don't record all of these important things

and forget about them. You should go back often and

read your journal to see how you're doing and...how

you're changing.

Soon, recording your numbers and feelings in your

journal will become second nature. It'll be something

you look forward to doing everyday. You'll keep it

for 365 days and when every page is used up, you'll

start a brand new journal with which you can continue

to record your progress.

Your journal will keep you

honest. It'll keep you on your toes. And may I tell

you something else? Your journal will help motivate

you. Because when you see your progress with your own

eyes and by reading your own words, it'll motivate you

to keep fighting.

So let me get back to my original question: Are you on-track

or off-track? Go to a stationery store

today and buy yourself a journal. (If you don't

already have one.) And oh, there's one other thing I

want you to write in your journal. And that is these

words... believes in me. (And I do!)

And now it's time for you to start believing in

yourself.

Now, get that journal and...get on-track!

Love,
