Guest guest
FORWARD. BACKWARD. Saturday, 23 October 2010 Life is filled with steps. That is, you can step forward or you can step backward. Weight-loss involves taking those steps, too. When you move forward in life with your good health, you lose weight. But when you move backward, you'll end up with a weight-gain. Do you understand what I mean? When I was a younger, I did a lot of walking backwards with my health. I didn't exercise, I wasn't eating healthy and I wasn't taking good care of myself mentally or physically. And because I wasn't taking those steps forward with my health, my weight continued to escalate. It wasn't until I reached my late 20s that it all began coming into focus for me. See, if I wanted to lose weight and keep it off, I would have to walk forward and never backward. Each and every day I exercised, I was walking forward. But when I came up with an excuse for not exercising, I was taking a step backward. When I planned my meals, I was going forward. But when I found myself at a restaurant ordering the blue-plate special with chicken-fried steak, macaroni & cheese and a warm buttered biscuit, you got it...I was taking a giant step backward. When I was thinking positive thoughts and feeling good about my life, I was moving forward. But when I was in despair and filling my mind with hurtful thoughts of self-doubt, I was taking backward steps again. I apply this principle to my life everyday now. And if something distressing crosses my mind, I have to decide, right then and there, if I'm going to let that moment of distress cause me to step forward or backward. I always choose to step forward! Yes, after all these years, I've decided that I just don't like taking backward steps, especially when it comes to my good health. I'm going to travel straight down that road to the horizon that leads to all of my goals. So let me ask, what kind of steps will you take today? Forward or backward? If you're eating healthy meals and snacks, you're walking forward. If you're dedicating an hour to exercise today, you're walking forward. When you believe in yourself and when you're kind to others, you're walking forward then, too. So come on, take hold of my hand and let's walk forward together. That way, we'll all live longer, happier, healthier lives and I'll be around to drive you crazy for a lot more years to come! Love,
