Guest guest
10 Wednesday, 29 December 2010 You did see the movie by the same name, didn't you? I'm talking about...10 with Dudley and Bo . It's the movie that made Ms. a household name back in the late 70's. And boy, was she ever a 10, or what? I vividly remember that scene where she was running down the beach in a bikini with those long braids of hers just a-tossing. "I whip my hair back and forth, I whip my hair back and forth!" Most of you have probably also seen Ben Hur with that big scene featuring the 10 Commandments. And of course, there's the ever-popular Top 10 List from the Letterman Show. Well as we leave the year 2010, I want you to think about the Top 10 people, places, foods and things that made a positive difference in your life this year. Now, before I give you these little assignments, I like to do them myself first. So I put together my own Top 10 List for 2010 and I had so much fun doing it. For the Top 10 people in my life this year, I just had to include my brother, Lenny on the list. He's certainly in the Top 10 of my life and always has been. He and his wife, visited me over the holidays and oh, what a fabulous time we had. Lenny is such a good man. He and make a great couple and they're both natural-born leaders. They help so many people in need through their work with various charitable organizations. The two of them are a great source of inspiration for me. Another person who has influenced and inspired me greatly is the lady who takes care of me and my precious Dalmatian, Hattie. That would be my dear friend, . She is such a strong lady. This year, she's lost two brothers and has taken care of an aunt who's been quite ill for 14 years now. I'm telling you, in spite of her challenges, always forges ahead. She's truly one of the most important people in my life. I look up to my manager, Catalano. He's been my manager for 22 years and has always guided me in the right direction. Then there's my dear friend and all-around good sport, Elijah. He and I talk every morning and he's been with me now for nearly 30 years. But I'm not finished. I have to tell you about my hard working assistant, Michele and all of the people at Slimmons who help keep things humming perfectly at the club. At Slimmons, I can count on Sherri, Anne, Helen, Trish, Dana and Felise. Oh, whatta team! Two more fabulous ladies are part of my life. Darlene is one of them and she works so hard everyday keeping my web site looking so good and our Clubhouse instructional and fun. My friend, also works hard on our web site and she's true-blue devoted to keeping all of our members taken care of. Oh, I am so blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life! Then there are the places I've gotten to visit this year. New York City has forever been one of my favorite cities. It's truly one of the most fascinating places in the world. I love visiting Los Angeles' "cousin city" to the south, San Diego, too. It's such a beautiful city. And while I was doing a convention in Las Vegas earlier this year, I took a tour of the city and boy, has it ever changed with all of the big shiny, new hotels! Last, but certainly not least, is my hometown of New Orleans. Our 2010 Cruise To Lose set sail from New Orleans. And while we were there, I got to show all of my cruisers many of the places that touched my life growing up, including the house I grew up in! The food that has to be included on my Top 10 list this year is spaghetti squash. (I'm sure you're all tried of me talking about my favorite vegetable...LOL!) But seriously, that spaghetti squash has really helped keep my weight down and I look forward to having it every time I cook some up. Mmm-mm! I've also been adventurous in the kitchen with herbs. I'm talking herbs like fresh chives, dill and rosemary. I cut them up with these cute little herb scissors into tiny pieces and add them to many of my dishes. Let me tell you, those fabulous herbs go a long way, really turning up the flavor on the dishes I use them in. And what favorite things make it to my Top 10 List? Well, I'd have to say the new hummingbird feeders around my house. The hummingbirds are so used to me now that they don't even fly away when I come out to refill their feeders. Yesterday, I watched three baby hummingbirds drinking the sugar water I'd made just for them. So sweet! (The baby hummingbirds, I mean!) Oh, my! I think I've listed more than 10 items. And I've got a feeling that when you begin your own list, you'll end up with more than ten items too, just like I have. It's nice to write down the favorite people, places, foods and things that've helped you become, well...YOU! Start making out your list today.
