Guest guest
THE BOTTOM LINE Monday, 27 December 2010 Yesterday, the day after Christmas, I asked if you'd gotten on the scale that morning. And tell me, what would your answer have been? After all of the Christmas festivities, a lot of you are a little afraid of even getting on the scale, I know. But...you must remember, the scale has nothing to do with what you ate at Christmas dinner. Hey, you've known for weeks that Christmas was coming. And that means you knew all of the foods you would be tempted by. So the big question is...did you stay on program Christmas Day or not? Did you really watch your portions of sugar, fat and the number of calories you ate? Many of you have 20, 50, 100 pounds or more to lose. And that's why it's always important to keep your guard up and your goals in mind even before you sit down to eat. When food was passed around the dinner table, did you say, "Oh, everything was just so delicious but I've had enough, thank you. I'm full." Or when you were passed the food, did you say, "Okay, if you insist, I'll have just a little more." Look, whether it's a holiday or not, you must stay focused on your weight loss goals. Some people E-mailed yesterday and told me, "Oh, I gained just a little...maybe a few pounds." And when I heard something like that, I'd say to myself...a few pounds? Hey, if you gained just two pounds, that means you ate 7000 additional calories! And two pounds gained in one day is a lot of weight! And here's the really bad news, it may take you two weeks to lose the weight you gained in just one day of overindulging. That's why, on this last Monday of 2010, you need to really get your head straight. This coming Saturday is New Year's Day. That means Friday is New Year's Eve and I wonder how many people will be sitting down to have just a bowl of healthy vegetable soup on Friday night. Will you? The bottom line is that it's possible for you to gain another couple of pounds between now and next Sunday, January 2nd, the second day of the new year. And tell me, is that the way you want to begin 2011, with a tummy full of rum balls...and a weight-gain? No way, ! You can't let that happen. My challenge for you today is to stay on program the next seven days. That means you've got to carefully watch your portions and the beverages you're drinking. Spend a few minutes alone today and ask yourself WHY it's so important for you to lose weight. And I want you to keep thinking about those reasons everyday this week.
