Guest guest
BODY CLOCK Tuesday, 07 December 2010 Tick- tock, tick-tock...your body's got a clock! Yes, it's true! You actually have an internal clock. No, your body clock doesn't "tell time." It lets you know when your energy level is at its highest. Oh, some of us wake up in the mornings just a bundle of energy. And okay, I'm one of those people. My eyes pop open first thing in the morning and then I pop...right outta bed. It's second nature for me to do my toning, stretching and the rest of my workout first thing in the morning. I put that music on then do my cardio and strength training everyday. And to tell you the truth, I can't wait to exercise in the morning. It just feels so good for my body after I do. I love the way that exercise makes me look and feel. And doing my workouts in the morning really energizes me for the rest of the day. But I know, everyone's not like me. A lot of people get up in the morning and they're still "asleep" for the first few minutes, even after they've gotten out of bed. LOL. It's as if they're in some kind of daze, almost like zombies! I can't tell you how many people E-mail telling me how they don't really come alive until they've had that first cup of coffee in the morning. Now this second group of people are just not the type who're going to exercise first thing in the morning. (Like I do.) Hey, they have a tough time just getting through brushing their teeth! These people's body clocks let them know that their energy levels perk up later in the day. Many of them go directly from work to the gym to get in an evening workout before going home. And some of them, after getting home from work, immediately jump on their treadmills or do a cardio workout DVD. So, which group gets the gold star? Those who do their workouts in the morning or those who prefer working out later in the day? Well...they both do! I'm talking about this today because people are still writing asking when's the best time of day for them to exercise. And this is my answer: Whenever you can get your workout in, trust me, will be just fine for your body. Remember, the important thing is to get that workout in...period! And oh yeah, there're also those people who get their workouts in during lunch hour. And yes, their workout times are perfect, too. (It's what works best for them that matters.) Just remember, you can't do a workout any time of the day...for only a few minutes. Because that way, you'll end up burning only a few calories and not get the full benefit of a long-enough workout session. You need to devote 45 minutes to an hour for your exercise, everyday. Now please, don't roll your eyes and tell me "you don't have time." You know what happens when you don't exercise. Your body gets weaker and you become more prone to sickness. You could end up with high blood pressure, high cholesterol. And on the plus side, regular exercise can help ward off diabetes or heart problems. Hey, you make time for so many other things in life. Well, learn how to "tell time" using your body clock and find the perfect time of day to get your workouts in, okay? I promise, find the time for your workouts and you'll be rewarded with more time here on earth! Love,
