Guest guest
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS... Wednesday, 08 December 2010 Is my two front teeth, my two front teeth, see...my two front teeth! Oh, I remember hearing that song when I was just a little kid. And one year, I really did wish for just my two front teeth. (That was the year I had to have them both pulled and really wanted them back! LOL.) Back when I was a kid, every Christmas season, Sears put out their famous toy catalog. They called it the Wish Book. And boy, did we ever pick up that catalog and...wish! My brother, Lenny and I spent so many hours, so many days flipping though that catalog wishing for the toys we wanted. Oh, you should have seen that catalog by the time Christmas Day arrived and we were done with it. I remember opening my presents on Christmas and seeing all of the toys Santa had brought me. My wishes came true! But now that we're older, the things on our Christmas lists have changed. Oh sure, some people add to their lists a new Flip camera, a Blackberry or even a new laptop. And I think it's okay to make a list of the "things" you want for Christmas. But now that you're all grown up, instead of so many material things, your list should include the non-material things you really need in your life. And the important word here is...need. On your Wish List, you should write down the things that are going to help make your life better. Like for instance, patience. I ask for more of it every year. Now I can't say that I've perfected the art of patience. (I'm still a work in progress.) See, I know what it's like to be patient. But I also know what it's like to be impatient. So I'm always striving to perfect the quality of having more patience in my life. It's one of the things I want to see beneath my tree this year. I've worked really hard this year to get rid of some of the "macaroni & cheese" around my waist. By that, I mean I've worked out more this year than I ever have in my life. And I must tell you, I've enjoyed the feeling I get from my exercise. It gives me a healthy body, mind and spirit. Working out gives me all those things. So I want to continue this lifestyle for the rest of my life. Keeping my workouts going strong is another item I'll add to my list. 2010 has been a very peaceful year for me. I got to stay home a little more this year and I've really enjoyed it. You see, I'm very much at peace when I'm at home with my precious Dalmatian, Hattie. She truly is the light of my life. Sometimes, after I've answered a lot of E-mail, I'll go upstairs and crawl into bed with her. Hattie will lay her head on my shoulder then place one of her paws on my chest as she falls asleep. Now tell me, how peaceful does that sound, huh? I'm also peaceful with all of the projects I've worked on this year. So as you can see by now, adding more peace to my life will be on the list of things I want for Christmas. The last item on my Wish List would be for me to simply learn to be more thankful. Oh don't get me wrong, I am so thankful for everything I have. But, maybe I'm not thankful enough. Sometimes in the middle of the day, I'll just look up to the sky and thank the good Lord for blessing me with so much. But you know what? Truth is, we all have much to be thankful for. We have a roof over our heads, food to eat and a comfortable bed to sleep in. And I know you're thankful for having these essentials in your life. Now that I've shared my Wish List with you, what about yours? Now that I've shared my Wish List with you, what about yours? What gifts do you want this year that will truly better your life? Because those are the really true gifts you should wish for this holiday season. All you want for Christmas is...? Love,
