Wow, Vickie, that is great that you have been able to stay away from Mc's

for a whole week when it was so much a part of your daily routine. I bet that

took some willpower.

A 3 lb loss is FANTASTIC! You know when one is losing seight or " on a diet " (I

really don't like to refer to it that way as I prefer to think I have just

changed my way of eating. Diet implies I will go back to the old way of

eating). Anyway I got side tracked there! LOL! Anyway when you are losing the

average that most people lose or even that Dr's want you to lose are 1 to 2 lbs

a week. So you did well above average! I never was a fast loser and a 3 lb

loss would have had me in ecstacy!

Congrats on changing your routine and on the great loss! Keep it up! Darlene

I have actually went 1 whole week without Mcs ! I am disappointed that it did not generate more weight loss than 3 pounds but I am amazed that I really feel better ! In just one week I only lost 3 pounds but I really do not believe that I am gaining energy and do not feel so blah !!!!!! I might add that I have had a terrible Mcs habit of 2 - 3 visits per day !

I know I am really behind in responding, but that's ok LOL!! Good for you, Vickie!

Two of my kids live at their father's house and he lives "next door" (pretty close anyway) to a McD's

My youngest calls me often, can you take me to McDs for this, that or the other....

Right now, his "obsession" is the McRib that they have (hopefully for limited time). I have put him off for over

a week, but may allow it this weekend.

Sigh..... I keep telling him he's going to turn into a french fry.

Fortunately (?) he likes to just get the hot cocoa, but that's still got to be up there in calories LOL!!

After *not* having any MickeyD's meals for over a year, with Ed home

this week and the kid's birthday I broke down and had some this past

Monday when they got some. I limited myself to a small fries and

half of Ed's double beef quarter pounder (He bought 2 but knew he

could only finish 1 1/2). That greasy saltiness started my downfall

for the week, triggering (and my giving in to) all sorts of

cravings, and in just those 4 days I gained over 5 pounds. I'm glad

it wasn't worse! Today was our belated T-giving meal with Ed's aunt

(another disaster - her Alzheimer's is making her mood and appetite

worse) and tomorrow I plan on doing a little detox and getting back

to my regular food plan after Tuesday's dentist appointment.

That fast food is way too addictive for me.

I used to love those fries and could easily eat a super-sized pack

with no problem. Now, just a handful and my mouth felt so greasy I

couldn't finish them.

I'm with you, Sue... I can only have a handful out of the value size fries (smaller than a small, I think) and a kids' size burger.

Amazing how it starts the downfall of cravings, though

My husband really does well the longer he is away from his beloved candy and treats. He says he doesn’t miss them, but once he takes a bite *because he thinks he can handle a small amount* he is hooked all over again. I look back on how I use to be that way too, which made any sort of dieting attempt so fallible. It made me feel hopelessly addicted to food. I know in September I came face to face with the old binge monster just because I thought I could handle food selection in an intuitive way (rather than sticking to my best foods). I cannot choose food solely by want, I would live on crap (which is what made me weigh over 300 pounds!). I know that for me, for my husband, eating the foods that we could not resist are part of the trigger process and leads time and time again down the wrong path.

The most mind boggling thing about that is....that it doesn’t go away! It is always there, always produces the same reaction. There are certain foods I cannot eat without it triggering a whole chain reaction of crazy eating.

I'm 57 years old and still can't remember that fact. I always think

I can handle just one small serving "this time".

At least now, all the leftovers and junk that *I* like is all gone.

No more mashed potatoes made creamy with the addition of fat, no

more veggies coated in oil, no more muffins, even if they *were*

whole wheat. Yesterday I was back on plan, and this morning my

weight was back to 255 - still up 2 from  the beginning of vacation

but at least down 3 from the vacation high of 258. With lab work

looming the week after Christmas this year, I have no choice but to

follow my food plan perfectly again.
