Guest guest
BE A KID TODAY! Saturday, 24 July 2010 Did you know there's a kid living inside you? Yes, there really is...and you know it. So on this Saturday, I want you to let the kid inside you come out to play! Oh, it's so much fun to act like a kid. As a matter of fact, I do it...a lot. Hey, I don't think of myself as a 62 year-old man all the time. In my mind, on a lot of days...I'm only 12! And as you all know, on most days, I act like I'm just 12 years-old. LOL!I had to do a little shopping at a department store the other day and I wore my clown nose into the store. You know what they are. I'm talking about those big red foam noses like a clown wears. You can get them at any novelty store. They only cost a dollar or two and boy, are they worth every penny. They're just so much fun! When I walked into the store, everybody inside had the biggest smile or a big-old grin on their faces as they saw me approaching. Several people even asked if they could try on my nose. It was so funny, the minute they put it on, they'd look in the mirror and just begin laughing hysterically! Now I don't stop at just the clown nose. I also like to blow bubbles. You can get them at the novelty store too so, as you can see...I stocked up last time I was there. I bring my bubbles home, unscrew the cap on the plastic bottle, dip the little wand into the liquid and...I'm ready to start blowing bubbles!I love getting on the floor with Hattie and blowing big bubbles for her. She loves it! Her eyes follow the bubbles all over the room and the puzzled look on her face is just priceless. And oh yeah, when I take my car to be washed, sometimes I bring my little harmonica with me to the car wash. (I've had it for decades.) I roll down the window as I pull up and play a little tune for the guys working there. Their faces just light up. (I think my rendition of Lady Of Spain is their favorite.)Now let me ask, what would make you feel like a kid today? Going to the park and rolling in the grass? Or would flying a kite bring out the kid in you? Remember how good it felt as that kite got caught in the wind and began soaring into the sky? Wait, I've got it...how's about getting a group of friends together and playing pick-up-sticks or building houses using a deck of playing cards? Hey, is there one of those miniature golf courses near you? l always loved playing mini-golf when I was a kid. Or maybe there's an amusement park in your area. If there is, go take a fun ride on a big rollercoaster. You can't help but feel like a kid when you're on one of those rollercoasters. (I know I do!) And I don't know how many hours I spent as a kid driving bumper cars at a carnival. They were another one of my faves!Okay, on this Saturday, I don't want you thinking any "grownup thoughts." Try not to worry about anything today. I want you to have a day free of adult-style worries. I want you to just have some good, old-fashioned fun today. I want you to laugh a lot and...be a kid!Since it's Saturday, you know where I'll be this morning. I'll be teaching class at Slimmons. And I've put together a great class for my students today with some hot music for us to sweat to! All of today's tunes are from 1960-64. Let's see if any of these old songs make you feel like a kid again...Da Doo Run, Run, The Twist, If I Had A Hammer, Locomotion, Sugar Shack and Blue Moon, to name a few. And while I'm busy teaching class, I can't wait to act like a kid so I can bring out the kid in all of my students and get them all to...come out and play!Love,
