WANNA JOIN?

Sunday, 16 May 2010

I've noticed a trend the last couple of years taking place all over America. See, there are some people who like to exercise by themselves. Then there are others who prefer to exercise as part of a large group.

I exercise by myself everyday. But I have to say, it doesn't compare with how I feel when I'm working out at Slimmons or on stage somewhere in the USA with a big group of people. I just love it! I feel like a light bulb when I'm in a big class with others. All of those other people I'm working out with give off their own electricity and I begin to feed off it. Oh, I become such...a wild thang!I love to watch people dance with me at Slimmons. As I'm doing my movements, I watch them in the studio's mirrors doing the moves right along with me. But there're a lot of people who really can't afford to join a gym or an aerobics studio. It's just not in their budgets. I've heard from many of them, too. But do you know what they've done to solve their problem? Well, they get together a bunch of their friends or family members to form their own little workout groups! They meet on a regular schedule to take walks through their neighborhoods or sweat in their homes using one of my Sweatin' To The Oldies DVDs.

Many of them have sent me photos of their groups exercising together and I've noticed something...everybody's smiling! Some of the groups I hear from, scattered across America, often get together and take part in walks for various charities. Now how fun and wonderful is that?!I was just thinking, most families sit at their dining room tables or in their living rooms together eating, and/or watching TV. But how many families and friends do you know who get together to workout? Hmmm, I'm gonna make a bet and say...not very many.

That's why I wanted to plant this seed in your minds today. Why not have some people you know join with you to form a sweatin' group? There may be some people in your group who need to lose weight and you may be one of them. This is certainly one good way to support each other and be each other's cheerleaders. After all the years I've taught at Slimmons, I've created wonderful friendships with so many thousands of people. I give them my support and cheer them on during every class. So today, why not make a list of some people you might like to exercise with. Then pick up the phone, call them up and ask..."Wanna join?"Love,
