HIGH HOPES

A couple of days ago, I was playing one of my classic Sinatra CDs. And one song in particular really carried me back to the days of my youth. It was called High Hopes. Oh, I just love that song. Anyone knows an ant can't...move a rubber tree plant! But he's got h-i-i-i-g-h hopes!

It was always such a joyous little song for me. It was from a movie my parents took me to see many years ago starring Sinatra called A Hole In The Head. In the scene where he performed High Hopes, Mr. Sinatra sang the song with a big group of youngsters.

I used to sing High Hopes all over the house when I was a kid. And look, I'm still singing it today. Why? Well, because that song just plain-old makes me feel good! It makes me feel hopeful.So let me ask you something...what is hope? Well, hope is a strong positive belief you have in your heart and soul about something happening or that will be happening soon in your life. Look, you have a choice. You can get up in the morning feeling all gloomy and pessimistic. And I don't have to tell you, there're a lot of people who start their days feeling just that way. Their top-o-the-morning talks with themselves may go something like this..."Oh, another day...big deal. I know it's just gonna be the same-old, same-old! I'll get out of bed, get showered, get dressed, go to work and sit there doing my boring job. Whoopee! After work, I'll drive home, walk in the door, go to the kitchen, grab some food then sit and watch TV while I'm eating. I have such a sad and boring life. Seems nothing good is ever going to come my way."Boy, what a creepy way to start your day, huh! People who think that way often stare at the ground when they walk. I mean, what do you expect when someone is constantly in such a defeated mood? But then there're those of us who get out of bed each morning with joy in our hearts.

"I believe I'm going to have a great day. I'll get all of my work done at the office and I'm so blessed to have the career I've had all of these years. And while I'm at work, I get to spend time with people I work with who I also happen to really like. Later today, I'll spend time with my family and remind them how much I love them, too. I'll count all of the blessings I already have and be thankful for the other blessings I know will come my way! Oh, thank you Lord, for another wonderful day!"Wow! Talk about floating on air and dancing on the ceiling. When you have high hopes in your heart, a lot of good things are gonna come your way. Thanks to that positive attitude you have about your life. Yes, the first few seconds of each day really set the tone for your whole day.

So what kind of day are you having so far? Are you hopeful and optimistic about living every minute of this wonderful day? I...hope so!

I mean think about it, sadly, there're many people who didn't get another day on earth. But you, my friends, are still here. Now tell me, how hopeful is that? Be thankful and I hope you have...high hopes today!
