MAINTENANCE

Thursday, 22 July 2010

Do you have a water heater in your house? Do you have someone who comes over regularly to service and maintain it? And what would happen if you didn't do that? Well, your water heater would probably develop serious problems and maybe even eventually blow up on you! The same thing goes for your home's air conditioning system, for your car and, (heavens forbid), for your computer! Truth is, just about anything can blow up or fall apart if you don't keep it properly maintained.

Yesterday, I told you about the three people who lost their weight in a healthy way. And remember, I told you that they each promised to never gain the weight back.I also told you yesterday that I ended up gaining back the weight I'd lost several times. And you know how I did it? Well, just like everyone else...I let my guard down. And when my guard went down, my mouth went open and...in went the food!To reach and maintain your goal weight, you have to keep saying no to temptation. And you know as well as me, those temptations will always be around. Oh you know the situations I'm talking about oh-so-well. Someone at work's birthday is coming up so there's a little party at the office to celebrate. You've been invited to a baby shower or attend a dinner out with family members. Or maybe your friend got a fabulous new hairdo and she's invited you out to a fancy restaurant with her to show it off. Maybe you're dating someone who loves Italian or Chinese food and you end up at some all-you-can-eat buffet with them every week. Oh, the possibilities for temptation to rear its ugly head are endless! And with all of that food around, if you're not careful, you can really blow it with maintaining your weight. I mean, you could end up eating enough calories in one meal that equals what you usually eat in a whole day...or two! And, on top of that, you know what happens when you overeat that way. The last thing you feel like doing is exercising. (Sounds like this situation is getting worse and worse, doesn't it?)

See, when you put on weight, you end up getting that "tired" feeling and it gets easy to slack on your exercise. Plus, you get lax about drinking the water you should be drinking. And the worse thing is when you stop believing in yourself and end up regaining the weight you'd worked so hard to lose. And how do you feel then, huh? Well, you end up feeling like a failure.

But I've told you a million times and I'll tell you a million more, there are no "failures." Only quitters. Quitters who get the jitters! You get so nervous that you don't think you'll ever be able to stay on program again. But I know...you can. You've jut got to pick up that ball you dropped and start bouncing it again!

For every letter I receive from someone who's been successful keeping off the weight they've lost, it seems I get a hundred from people who've put the weight they lost back on.

Well, as for you, I want you to be one of those people who maintains their goal weight. Yes, I want you to be that person who...keeps it off!Love,

Maybe he should have titled this temptations.I have to count myself lucky,I am not tempted 90% of the time.Sure I get tempted but for the most part, I don't,and when I am tempted I go ahead and indulge. Now I am not saying I eat a whole pie or cake when I am tempted. I eat 1 slice or serving and stop.Maybe it's partly due to the fact that don't view any food off limits, so I don't feel like I can't ever have something and if I want something I make it a part of my meal.I am the person you see eat dessert with their meal. I don't wait to get dessert if I want it. I will order it [and have to tell them to serve it with my meal] and I will take a bite of everything on my plate, including dessert, and then another, and if I

feel full,I stop. I may end up with half a plate of food left over but I ate everything I wanted.I have never quite understood the people who eat a full meal + a salad and then dessert! To me,that's way too much food! If I don't eat it all at the same time, I'd be too full to eat more after my meal!! I eat salads the same way for the same reason. I hardly ever finish all the food on my plate-except when aunt flow is in town! And remember I use a salad plate as my dinner plate!Nothing has ever tempted me so much that I would eat the whole thing-except if aunt flow is in town,LOLSpeaking of which... I am so glad I don't end up gaining weight every month!!! I

don't know how,but I'll sure take it,LOLDaisy
