Guest guest
SORE? Monday, 17 May 2010 Now I don't usually talk much about myself, LOL! But I'm going to today. Okay, I've told you before that I exercise everyday, come rain or shine. And I teach hundreds of exercise classes all over the country every year. I also spend a lot of time walking through airports. I'm telling you, in those big airports, it feels like you've walked a whole mile to reach your gate. Sometimes as I walk, I'll sing...Walk A Mile In My Shoes! I climb a lot of stairs, too. In fact, climbing stairs has been one of my secrets to getting in my cardio for years now. I'll march up and down stairs maybe hundreds of times. And when I do, oh, the sweat just pours off me! (You'd think I'd been rained on!) Sometimes when I'm walking up stairs, I'll sing Don't Rain On My Parade. But I have to tell you, with all of my walking, stair climbing and other exercise, sometimes I get...sore! Hey, my bones are 61 years-old ya know. (Soon, they'll be in the sonian along side bones of the dinosaurs! LOL.)Yep, my muscles do get sore. I get that soreness in my legs, in my quads and calves. The biceps and triceps of my arms also get that soreness. My neck gets sore. My back gets sore and, let me tell you, when I get sore...I need relief! And how do I get that relief? Well, I put my body into a hot bath lay back in that bathtub of hot water and...ahhhhh! As I lie there, I think of nothing. (I even give my brain a break.) I close my eyes and just...b-r-r-r-e-a-a-t-h-e! After my good, hot soaking in the tub, I take some moisturizer and rub it all over my body. I spend about ten minutes massaging all of those muscles that are causing me to be so sore. After the moisturizer has soaked in, I do my upper and lower body stretches. And after that, I say my prayers then crawl into bed. And you know what? When I get up in the next morning...I'm not so sore anymore! I feel revitalized and I'm ready to do my fitness routine all over again for that brand new day! Now if you're like me and exercise often, I'll bet you end up getting sore sometimes, too. (And by the way, eating fattening foods does not make the soreness go away! LOL.) So do what I do and take some time to soothe your bones, muscles and all of your body. Get into that bathtub, do a little muscle massaging and later, get in some good stretches. If you do, I promise, you'll end up sleeping like a baby. You whole body will feel just so relaxed!Look, if you don't care of your soreness, the soreness will only get worse. When you get sore and do nothing about it, your body simply begins to "rust." The bottom line is that...it's great to move. Hey, you know I'm a real believer in getting these bodies of ours moving and dancing. Oh, what a feeling...when you're dancing on the ceiling! So what kind of a workout will you do today? Whatever you do, if you end up a little sore, remember what we talked about today. And don't be sore at me for bringing it up!Love,
