[The Little Bowl] Confirmation

1st Bowl: potatoes and red franks. apricot tea 2nd Bowl: rice crackers 3rd Bowl: lemon sponge cake (no frosting or icing) There will be one more bowl to eat, I plan on having a brat and some salad greens. I finally got a full nights sleep last night and a long afternoon nap today. I was out cold. I have been reflecting on the One Bowl Method and wanted to write about my reactions to it. With the birth of my granddaughter taking up all available emotions and time, I haven't really had the presence of mind to mention how extremely well this is going for me. I believe the very reason I was able to stick to my weight loss diet for an entire year was because I made only one rule to follow. Instead of creating restrictions about everything, I made one rule, that I would count calories everyday without fail, no matter what I ate or how much. This worked for me. I could eat whatever I wanted, I just had to count it. This one rule kept me from playing games about food and eating, I couldn't overeat and then " start over " as though I had millions of clean slates available to me. I decided I my primary goal was not to have a perfect diet, but a diet based in reality. Some days I eat more than other days. I will be writing and giving documentation for my first full year of dieting tomorrow. I found that once I added any other restrictions, I started to have resentments build up until I would feel defiance and wanted to " break the rules " . This has happened throughout my own history of dieting. I do my best when the rule is a simple one and easy to keep going. The one bowl is a wonderful eating " rule " . It has really saved the day here in Hawaii, as it was getting more difficult for me to calorie count in someone else's home. The bowl keeps my food portions small so easily and so naturally. And how do I confirm it is working? I discover my daughter has a scale! I had just eaten breakfast and drank a couple cups of tea and was fully dressed, but I grabbed my camera and recorded this: I am so pleased! My last recorded weight in July was 243 and 241 (I was fluctuating) So with clothes and a meal, I estimate I may be at 243/245 and that means I have had no weight gains in the whole month I have been in Hawaii. Absolutely F’ing Fabulous!!!! --
