Guest guest
I have had lots of confusion coming home and dealing with eating. I made sure I had plenty of good food available, stocked up on fresh greens and veggies, we had plenty of meat and I bought plain yogurt and gouda cheese to round it out. I bought real cream for my coffee. My calories have been higher than my diet on the truck, but the carbs stayed the same. Yesterday was the highest calorie count: July 4th This included dinner at my parents house. I ate: 4 tortilla chips, 2 T guacamole (no martini’s that were served) 1 medium grilled steak, salad with homemade blue cheese dressing, grilled mushrooms and peppers, 1.5 glass of wine and 3 strawberries in whipped cream and a dollop of chocolate mousse. The dessert of course shot my carbs up to 56 net, but I think with giving up a martini, giving up chips (that sat in front of me the whole afternoon and are a weakness for me) and not having anything but water to drink until dinner (they only had sugar filled soda’s) I did pretty well. Since I have been home, my calorie average: The carbs were at 24 net, but spiked with the Jul 4th intake. Sigh. I am curious whether I can tolerate a higher calorie intake with a lower carb intake, but I suspect it will not make a difference, even though most low carb sources say it will. Yogurt, flaxseed meal, soft boiled egg, coffee with cream I forgot my camera card for the Jul 4th, and only have a couple of photo’s on my meals so far. I had made a pizza for my husband, I made a large 9 oz ground beef patty for myself with peppers and onion. Now about the booze. Double Sigh. The one thing about ketosis (and I remember this from long ago) is that alcohol and very low carb don’t mix well. While I was very resolute about not buying any more booze, there was still a heel of a bottle of rum left at the house and I had 3 drinks, a total of 6 oz the first night home, and had a hangover the next morning. KAPOW! The second night, the same thing, so I dumped the rest of the bottle out and announced to my husband that only wine from now until I change my mind. lol. I never say never, it’s sets up a internal struggle I don’t want to deal with. That is why I didn’t have a martini at my parents, I wanted to feel good the next day. I cant stress enough how good ketosis feels for me, and I want that to continue. 2 glasses of wine don’t mess with how I feel so that is why I am sticking to that. Husband is home today and tomorrow and then he is back on the road, he bought me a boxed wine so that I can have 1 glass with dinner and not deal with an open bottle. Fine with me. My weight did not change the first 3 days home and I did not get on the scale this morning, (with the heavier dinner last night possibly weighing me down) so tomorrow I will check where I am at and check my ketones. I have swam each day and had two walking days. Feeling great about that. So far….I am doing ok, but I am looking forward to really kicking butt when I am alone. -- Posted By elisaannh to The Little Bowl at 7/05/2010 06:04:00 AM

Guest guest
Thanks, Daisy. I really have to work it everyday. Writing in my blog really helps as well as reading this list and a couple of forums and blogs. It is always top priority to stay on my diet. I never was like this before, even when I lost a lot of weight in the past. I feel a sort of desperation this time around because I am aging and losing time to obesity. elisaannh -- Re: [The Little Bowl] Home-Time So Far…. annh,I so admire your focus!!!
