BYE-BYE, JULY!

Saturday, 31 July 2010

Well, there it goes. Another month has flown by. See you, July. I had a great time while you were here! And seriously, I did have a really good July. I stayed home this month to be with my sweet Hattie. She turned 14 years-old yesterday and I truly enjoyed the month at home with her. (It was a birthday month for both of us.)

Now let me tell you, I was really good to my body this month. I exercised every single day the month of July. I got up early every morning to do my pushups and sit-ups. Then I'd go into my cardio workout and finish with the toning part of my routine. Each day, I'd target a different part of my body for toning. On Mondays, I worked on my chest. Tuesdays were dedicated to toning my back. And Wednesdays were for my biceps, triceps and shoulders. After those three days, I'd start over and repeat working those body parts in the same order.Let me tell you something else I did. I woke up everyday this month thanking God for giving me a new day and counted all of my blessings. (And yes, I counted you among those blessings.)I worked extra hard this month answering as many E-mails as I could. I also read two new books. One was a book on gardening and, of course, I had to get my novel in. This month, I real his book called Private.

I spent time everyday this month in my rose garden. (It's a good place for me to meditate.) And let me tell you, I didn't eat even one meal out this month. I made turkey burgers, brown rice and several vegetable casseroles this month. Good, healthy eating for me in July, let me tell ya'!

Okay, so there's my personal inventory for the month. Now tell me about yours. Did you have a good month in July? Were you happy most of the month? Did you feel good about yourself this month? Did you take good care of yourself in July? Oh I'm sure, you took very good care of others in your life but I really want to know if you took good care of you. Did you make time for exercise? How many hours did you spend working out during the 31 days of July? 31 hours? Did you visit too many fast food restaurants this month or eat out at some of those all-you-can-eat buffets? Do you remember what you ate on the 4th of July? How many meals did you cook for yourself this month? And now okay, here comes the big question...(drum roll please!) Did you lose 5 more pounds or more this month? Or did your weight remain the same? And maybe, just maybe...you even had a weight-gain this month?

Of course I know July was filled with cookouts, barbecues and family vacations. So I know there were a lot of tempting foods calling your names. I also know that when you're hot and sweaty from being in the sun, you're probably in no mood to workout. But hey, you've still got to get those workouts in!I'm asking you all of these questions because you don't ask them of yourself often enough. But I want you to realize how you're actually gypping yourself of good health by not sticking with the program. Well, here we are at the end of July. And before tomorrow comes...August 1st, I want you to make the commitment to take good care of yourself, starting today. And if you do well today staying on program, I'd say there's an excellent chance you'll do it again on August 1st.Bye-bye, July...Let's go, August!

Love,
