Guest guest
REWARD! Wednesday, 09 June 2010 When I was a kid back in New Orleans' and stepped on the scale, I'd usually be very unhappy with the numbers that came up. But on those occasions where I'd been on a diet and had healthy meals planned for myself, I'd be a lot happier when I stood on that scale. That's because I would see a weight loss...Hooray! Now when I did see myself losing weight for a while, do you know what I'd do? (Get this.) To "celebrate," I'd run down to the Virginia Kitchen PO-boy restaurant in the French Quarter and order myself a shrimp and oyster PO-boy! Uhhhh, smart way to celebrate a weight-loss, huh? Were you ever rewarded or did you ever reward yourself for a weight-loss...with food? Yeah? Well, let's admit...it really doesn't make any sense, does it? I mean you spend the entire week eating tuna and hard-boiled eggs. Then after losing some weight you feel you've "earned a reward." So you go ahead and reward yourself by eating "something special." But you know what ends up happening with those rewards, don't you? That's right, you end up putting the weight you'd worked to lose right back on. (Some "reward.") Now I have to tell you that I do believe in weight-loss rewards. I think you should be happy and proud when you've been successful at losing weight. And yes, I'd say you have earned a reward for your hard work. But when I say reward...I'm not taking about with food! There was a lady at my exercise studio in Los Angeles, Slimmons, who was doing a great job losing weight. When she lost 20 pounds, she rewarded herself with a new haircut and had some fun streaks added to her hair. Another lady who attends class at my studio loves to read. So she rewarded herself with a new book for every ten pounds she lost. There was also a lady who wrote me with her own fun rewards story. She bought herself a piggy bank and for every pound she lost, she'd add a dollar to her piggy bank. Her ultimate goal was to end up with 100 bucks in that bank. And guess what? She's already up to 71 dollars saved. What a clever idea. 71 bucks in the bank for 71 pounds...gone from her body! This is what you have to do. You have to reward yourself with a non-food gift for the weight you lose. Now that does make good sense, doesn't it? So, do you reward yourself for your weight-loss success? Do you reward yourself with maybe a massage, a facial or a manicure for every "X" number of pounds you lose? Or maybe when your body drops a couple of sizes, you reward yourself with a new outfit that's alive with bright colors as you show off your newer body. Hey, I say...show it off, girl! It's good to pamper yourself as you're losing weight. It's like patting yourself on the back and saying..."good job!"Now let me ask you something...who pampers you? Who makes you feel good as you have weight-loss success? If you have someone in your life who does those things for you, I say...good for you! And if you don't, I think you should do some good things for yourself. Remember who you're losing this weight for. And I also want you to remember that you deserve of those special rewards.Today, I want you to make a pamper list of rewards for your weight-loss successes. Then start treating yourself to something special by rewarding yourself for all of the hard work and success you're having because of it!Love,
