Guest guest
I managed somehow, someway to get the calories down yesterday. Well, maybe it is because I felt like I was coming down with something by later afternoon, I could hardly finish my supper and having a glass of wine did not appeal to me (and my husband would interject at this moment that it was a clear indication I was getting sick!). I was in bed by 7:30 after TWO hot showers to take the chill off my bones. This morning I did feel light headed and out of it. NO appetite so far, but I did have some coffee and plain yogurt for breakfast as I have to run errands today. I will do as I have been doing, packing my lunch to take with me in my mini cooler. Just because I am weird this way, here’s my breakfast: We always use course salt. I really like it on my eggs. An egg on top of a sausage patty is a favorite breakfast. I don’t eat this on the truck but once or twice as we don’t have the time to cook breakfast (it would take an hour in the lunchbox oven) so it is a real treat for me now to be able to have a hot breakfast. This morning I was so glad that I made a soup for today. I had some leftover turkey and threw that into a pot with chicken broth and a few veggies while I made my lunch yesterday: I cooked up some bacon, added it to a salad, and put some in the soup. Supper: Linguica sausage, zucchini, tomato and green onion. It was so flavourful, but I wasn’t hungry at all. I ate it, and regretted eating when not hungry. Just wasn’t feeling well. My final tally for my foods for yesterday: Today the calories are about the same, I had yogurt for breakfast, plan on salami, fresh peppers and cream cheese for lunch and the soup and deviled eggs for dinner. Tomorrow I am having my parents for a birthday luncheon, I can send the extra rolls and cake home with them. Weigh in day for me: Since my calorie range was so high, I accept this weight. Click to enlarge. Wow, nearly 2000 calories for the past week’s daily average. Amazing that I have not gained more weight this week. Yesterday, when I was going through my old cookbooks for ideas on the luncheon, I found a chart for 1939 to show the foods needed for health. I will scan it later, but it had this: Daily Food for An Adult Milk - 1 pint Egg – 1 Meat – 1 serving Fruit – 1 raw serving, 1 cooked serving Potato – 1 serving Vegetable – 1 serving Whole Grains, cereal and bread – 2 servings Butter – 1 oz Total – 1550 calories! For those in manual labour, they added the extra calories from butter and oil, extra serving of meat or veggies to bring it to a maximum of 2000 calories! Wow, that made me sit back and think. I know that in the past people ate very little compared to today, but I had not had a chart with the numbers on it before. It’s called WHAT TO EAT AND WHY. I am going to read the whole booklet and scan some pages to share. Looking fairly low carb to me! Interesting. I am getting a cold or something, my head is just swimming and my temp feels like it is rising. I better get my errands done now and rest for the rest of the day. I am thankful I did not gain weight. Maybe this cold or whatever it is will help keep me from eating more than I need this next week. -- Posted By elisaannh to The Little Bowl at 7/13/2010 07:51:00 AM
