THE CHOICE: PART 2

Thursday, 27 May 2010

never shared her thoughts with anyone except for her best friend, Jill. The two of them often did their homework together and spent a lot of time over the weekend with each other at the mall. Jill would always tell how pretty she was and that if she lost some weight, she'd be a real knockout! would just laugh whenever Jill told her how pretty she was.

And whenever she got home from an outing with Jill, would go to her bedroom, stand in front of the mirror and say to herself, "Please! There's no way I'm 'pretty'! I don't care what Jill says. God knows, I'll never be a 'knockout.' Who is she kidding?"But continued to stare at herself in the mirror. She looked at her body from every angle. And as she kept looking at herself, she admitted that she did not want to end up like her mother. She wanted so badly to win the battle with her weight! The next morning, got out of bed with a newborn determination. She even asked Jill to become her walking partner. Jill said yes and everyday after school, the two of them took a 2-mile walk together. And not only that, began paying much closer attention to the foods she was eating. There was no more eating at burger joints or other fast food places. She began reading up on nutrition and about making the right choices when it came to the foods she ate. She began planning her meals as she watched how many calories and fat grams she was consuming. And as she made all of those changes... begin seeing the pounds come off! By the end of her senior year, she'd reached her goal weight of 140 pounds. Hooray for !

She continued to eat healthy, exercise regularly and worked hard to maintain her new weight. After such great success, sometimes would sit in her bedroom and think about what a wonderful life she had now...thanks to losing the weight. Since graduating high school, had not seen Jill in a long time. It just so happened that the two high school chums were getting together in a couple of weeks and couldn't wait to show Jill how well she'd maintained her weight. She wanted to thank Jill for inspiring her to get on the road to weight loss. Thanks to Jill's encouragement, really was a knockout now!

I told this story in two parts for a reason and even created an alternate ending here in Part 2. See, both stories were about the importance of making choices. In our pasts, we've all made choices, sometimes the right choices and, yes...sometimes the wrong ones. But there's nothing any of us can do to change those choices we've made in the past. could have kept on only wondering what her life would be like if she lost weight. But she could discover what life held in store for her by not only wondering anymore but...by working hard to lose the weight. She simply had to make the right choice of which road to take.I just hope that, here in the present, you're making the right choices about you, your health and your life. So tell me, which choice will you make about your own good health? And as you ponder that question, remember...The choice is yours.

Love,
