We had a shower this morning so I decided to drag my scale into the shower room even though Tuesday is my usual weigh in day. I have lost 5 pounds since the 8th. This weight was my lowest weight in May, so I have lost all of the wacko gain I have had since then. I want to lose 10 more pounds before Hawaii on July 28th. If I can stick with the 950 calories, I may be able to do it. I can be more active all of July when I am at home. Here is my crazy weight graph since the beginning (Sep 1). I hate that I have lost a whole month to netting the same weight I managed to reach in May. As you can see, I had a steady drop until November, then it has been a bouncy road since then. It wasn’t even Thanksgiving that started this, I was on plan even then. However my home times did spike in calories and I can see that on the chart. My body is extremely sensitive to calorie changes, defying all science when it comes to “it can’t be fat gain†in such a short period of time. The only thing I can think of to explain it is that when I have more carbs than I need, I gain quicker and my weigh fluctuates more (fluid retention). I really want to test this theory of mine, as my carbs are down around 20, instead of 100, I may be helping the fluid retention issue. Just a few days into the lower amount and I can tell I feel clearer, less emotional. I remember in my low carb years in the late 1990’s how well I felt and how it helped me keep calm and feel less anxiety. I left low carb because I got married and wanted to “eat normally and intuitively†which worked to a point of maintaining my weight and stopping the bingeing, but did not address how sensitive I am to carbohydrates. I find it ironic that my husband’s doctor wants him on low carb too. He won’t do it, his whole eating world revolves around bread and potatoes, but I have it cut down and he is at 160 carbs instead of 300+ where he was at before. I think if he can maintain this diet, he will be able to accept taking the carbs down a bit more. I have a lot of books on low carb and encouraged him to read them, but we’ll see. Right now, I am so pleased he is on board with me, and the rest will work itself out eventually. My menu continues to be exactly the same, I am eating 934 calories and a net 22 carbs. I have every hope that I can lose 10 more pounds by the end of July. Fingers crossed! --
