REFLECTIONS

Monday, 12 July 2010

Well,...Happy Birthday to me! Yep, I'm 62 years-young today. On July 12th, 1948, my sweet mother, Shirley, gave birth to an adorable, bouncing baby boy...ME! And I'm so glad she did. LOL.

Today will be quiet day for me. I'm not going out to eat and I'm not having a big birthday party today either. Instead, I'm just going to stay here at home and think about these first 62 years of my life. Today will be a day of reflection for me. See, I've been such a blessed man and I'll spend all of today counting those blessings.First, I must say that I'm blessed to have had Shirley and Leonard as my parents. What colorful people they were. They were were in show business and I'm so glad they kept that razzle-dazzle "star quality" about themselves for all of their lives. I was blessed with a patient brother and oh, I know I drove him crazy for many years. (I'm sure I still do on occasion. LOL.) But when I drive him a little crazy these days, Lenny usually ends up bursting out in a big laugh. His face gets so red...he looks like a beet! The sound of Lenny's laughter is what's helped keep me going for all of these years.

I'm blessed to have had such a wonderful and productive career, the kind that has helped others. My years on General Hospital were great. And I was also blessed to have a few of my own TV shows over the years, like The Show. And I must say that my decision to open Slimmons all those years ago, was one of the best ideas I've ever had in my life. And oh yes, I'm so blessed to have the wonderful people who work with me at Slimmons. Some of them have been with me for many years. We're like family to each other. And the fact that they believe in me and can personally relate to my mission makes my having them in my life even more of a blessing. I'm blessed to have had my sweet Dalmatians in my life for 30 years now. It all began with Scarlett, back in 1980. Then came , Marty, Prissy, Pitty Pat, , Dolly and Hattie. Seven of my girls have gone on to Doggie Heaven and Hattie is still with me. She's my real present today!

I'm also blessed to have this wonderful website where I can help people and motivate them to take better care of themselves. People like you! Of course I can't count my blessings without talking about how I've been blessed with good health. And I work hard at making sure I stay healthy by taking good care of myself everyday. I never take the blessing of good health for granted. It's something we all have to work at.I'm blessed by all of the people who love and care about me. No matter where I go to teach, I meet people who've known me for years from seeing me on television or working out with me on one of my videos or DVDs. And what a joy it is for me to have them come out and share a little more joy...with me.I'm also blessed to have a roof over my head, and healthy food to eat. (And hey, my sparkly tank tops are a blessing to me, too!)

So all day today, I'll spend time thinking about the wonderful life I've had these 62 years. And before I turn in for bed tonight, I'll pray, asking the good Lord to bless me with another 38 years. (You're all going to be invited to my 100th birthday party!)And one more thing, Thank You for coming to my website and reading my messages everyday. Because you know one other wonderful blessing I have to count? It's having all of you as my friends!Love,
