Guest guest
I CAN'T GET NO... Wednesday, 27 January 2010 I just love the Rolling Stones! One of their songs is an all-time favorite of mine and it's called...((I Can't Get No) Satisfaction! And in that song, Mick Jagger claims he can't get no satisfaction in life. (Hey, I like the song but I don't like those sentiments.) Once upon a time, many years ago, the one thing that truly satisfied me the most was...food! (Big surprise there, right?) Oh, after I had a fried bologna sandwich on white bread with mayo...I was satisfied. When the lady who lived around the corner from us cooked her double-fried chicken with French fried potatoes and shared a plate with us...I was satisfied. On Friday nights at our house when we had fried shrimp, fried oysters and fried crab claws, boy, was I ever truly...satisfied!The real truth though is that for the first 18 years of my life, I spent that time satisfying myself...with food! Oh, I had my ups and downs with that food relationship but, I'm telling you, after I finished a big old fattening meal, I would find myself a nice comfortable chair, have a seat and..smile. Ahhhhh...satisfaction! But what real satisfaction was I getting from all of that overeating? Well, actually...none! I was doing damage to my body with all that food and, believe me...I paid for it! I had such a bad image of my body that I hated to look at it. When I changed my clothes, I never looked at myself in the mirror. I just put my clothes on and tried to hide from the world what I didn't like about my body. But I finally got smart, lost the weight and have kept it off for 41 years. The majority of the meals I've eaten over those years have been very healthy ones. For the last 36 years, I've been really into working out, too. And I'm gonna tell you something, when I look at myself in the mirror these days, I am satisfied with the results of my hard work for all of these years. I don't care what the song says...you can get satisfaction, if you really want it. So, how is the self-image you have of your body? Do you avoid mirrors like I used to? Do you just put your clothes on not looking in the mirror before heading out of the house? Please remember, men and women are the highest forms of life. And I'd say our Creator did a pretty stunning job of designing these amazing bodies or ours from head to toe.So if you're not satisfied, it's time to find the self-love and comfort in who you are and in what you look like. I remind you all the time how to do just that. Respect the food, respect your workouts and...respect yourself! And one day, you'll look into that mirror, see your body and believe me what you'll feel is...satisfaction!Love,
