WHAT IS YOUR...???

Tuesday, 23 March 2010

On Saturdays at Slimmons, I teach a class called Project Me. It's a motivational class I lead right before our big Saturday morning workout.

During our Project Me meetings, we talk about our weight-loss efforts and how the previous week went for us. We also talk about everyone's achievements in that past week. Each week for Project Me, everyone gets a homework assignment. And for all of my Clubhouse members, I also give a homework assignment for everyone to do before we go into our Monday night live chat.

Sometimes the homework assignment is a little silly or just plain fun. But sometimes the assignment is much more serious. Well, this week's homework would definitely fall into the category of serious. It was a very soul-searching assignment. The question I asked everyone was this...What is your purpose here on earth? Why are you here?Does anyone ever ask you that question? The majority of people who turned in their homework said no. No one had ever asked them about their purpose in life. But some of them said their purpose here on earth was to serve God. And yes, I have to definitely agree, that one is true.Others said that they were put here to be a teacher. One of my Clubhouse members who happens to a nurse said she was put here on earth to help save lives.

Many of them, men and women told me they were put on earth to be good parents. And one gentleman said, "I was put here to do good on this earth and to leave it a better place when I'm gone." I have to say, the emotions poured out of just about everyone who responded. Many of them listed five or six reasons they thought they were put on earth. But then there were those who said, "I have absolutely no idea why I'm here!" (Oh, my!)My parents told me a long time ago that there was a reason I'm here. They told me that I may not know the reason for a long time, but that I should keep looking and searching for why God gave me my life.

Well, I'm sure I was put here to be a clown. I mean it! Hey, I'm a doggoned good clown! And I don't even have to wear a big red nose...just a bright red tank-top. LOL!

I loved making people laugh even when I was just a kid. I would memorize jokes my parents told each other, go to school and repeat them...with flair. Oh yes, I was the class clown in every one of my classes. I was always good for a good laugh. Thank goodness my teachers understood my sense of humor. Otherwise, I would've been kept in detention all day long...everyday!

Not only was I put here on earth to make people laugh. But I believe I was put here to make them sweat, too! Over the years, I've seen millions of people sweat. First the sweat appears on their foreheads, then around their mouths and pretty soon, their entire workout outfits are drenched in sweat! I just love making people perspire, it's good for them. And with enough leg lifts and dance movements, believe me, after a while it looks like they just came out of a swimming pool! But making people laugh and making them sweat are just two of the reasons I believe I was put here on earth. So, how about you? Do you have any idea what your purpose on earth is? Just like my students and my Clubhouse members, I'm asking you to make a list of the reasons our creator...created you.Love,
