SO...WHAT DID THE SCALE SAY?

Monday, 22 March 2010

It's Monday! And I know you tiptoed onto that scale and weighed yourself today to see how much weight you've lost. And I also know that you feel good about stepping on that scale...if you stayed on program all of last week.

Well, my question for you today is...Did you stay on program last week? And if the answer is yes, did the scale reward you with some good news in the form of lower numbers?

Now, when I asked if you stayed on program, I'm wondering if you stayed within the number of calories you should consume daily to see a weight-loss. As for me, I consume 1600 calories a day. Now I don't know how many calories you have to eat to see a weight-loss. But if I consume 2000 calories a day or more, I may see a little bit of a weight gain by the end of the week. Or if I ate salty foods the week before, I would retain water. And that water-retention shows up as a weight-gain, too.

And speaking of water, if I don't drink enough of it and began hitting the sodas again, I could also see a weight gain. Or if I added a few desserts to my week that were high in calories and fat, I'd also see those numbers go up. You've got to stay within the correct number of calories you should be consuming each day for you to see the weight-loss you want. And I wonder if you exercised everyday last week? Hey, you put those calories into your mouth and now...you've got to burn them off. Last week, you should have done four days of cardio, two days of toning and one day of taking a nice brisk walk for yourself. If you exercised only four days out of the week, you did not burn enough calories. And because of that, you may have stayed the same or even gained a little weight last week. Eat it then burn it! Remember, your body is like a human furnace. I'm telling you, I can't go a day without exercising. Oh, I just wouldn't feel right! Not only does the exercise burn the calories I've eaten but it also gives me a tremendous amount of energy. In fact, sometimes I have so much energy, I feel like a kite soaring through the sky!One thing that can help you stay on program is to keep a journal of your weekly weigh-ins. There's nothing like seeing those numbers in black and white!

If you did lose weight last week, good for you! Now you've gotta keep it up. You've got to keep watching your calories and lifting those legs. And if you did not lose weight last week, then you should sit down and spend some time alone figuring out why you didn't. What did you do last week to sabotage your weight less efforts?

Your job this week is to not repeat the mistakes you made last week. Get those measuring cups and spoons out and give your body the right size portions of foods so you can lose this weight and take back your good health!Love,
