Guest guest
CHOCOHOLIC Wednesday, 24 March 2010 Oh, did I ever receive one doozy of an e-mail yesterday. In fact, you can't imagine some of the e-mails I get. Most of them are very serious but some of them are just silly-crazy! Okay, let me tell you about the e-mail I received from Maureen. She was raised in a house where there was always a box of candy sitting on the living room table. And while watching TV, her family would empty that box of candy long before they left the living room to go to bed. But hey, that was no problem. There was always another box of candy in the pantry. (It was part of the family's stash.)One summer, Maureen worked at a candy store in a neighborhood shopping mall. Some days, her job meant standing outside the store handing out assorted chocolate samples to customers as they walked past the store. And not only did her customers get to taste the chocolates, Maureen got more than her fair share of tasting in, too!And while she and her customers were sampling the chocolates, Maureen would say things to them like, "Oh, it's so creamy, isn't it? Don't you just loved those chopped pistachios tucked away inside?" And before you knew it, Maureen had lured another customer into the store! (She always won the award for "Salesperson of The Month"!) Now come to find out, Maureen is also the kind of person who keeps chocolate candy bars at her computer desk. She told me that she spends hours on the Internet searching chocolate-themed websites and ordering chocolates from all over the world. But Maureen was writing me now asking how she can stop this chocolate obsession of hers. I mean she's now 78 pounds overweight! Well, I got in touch with her and told Maureen that it was time to check into "chocolate rehab." LOL.But seriously, when you're raised with boxes of chocolate sitting around the house, you're bound to end up becoming compulsive and obsessive about the stuff. Hey, I was. I couldn't walk by a grocery store where I didn't visit the candy aisle. And let's just say I didn't eat just one bar, either. We all know that chocolate is delicious. Yep, it really is. Whether it's milk chocolate, dark or white, chocolate has a wonderful affect on your taste buds and your brain. When you're eating chocolate, you're thinking to yourself..."Oh, this is so-o-o-o good! I can't wait to have another...and another!" But you also know that besides being delicious, chocolate is high in sugar, fat grams, filled with high-fat dairy and that all translates into lots of calories! Oh, that chocolate! Even though it feels great on your taste buds, think about what it does to your waistline. Chocolate makes you gain weight! Now you may not be as obsessed with chocolate as Maureen. But if you're eating chocolate everyday or a few times a week, you're going to get yourself into trouble with your weight and, in time, your health. So, what's my advice for you? Don't bring chocolates into your home, especially those little teeny mini-candy bars. Don't be fooled by their tiny size. Put a few of them together and you've still got yourself one BIG candy bar!Did you have chocolate today?Love,
