ONE...TWO...THREE!

Friday, 22 January 2010

How many meals did you eat yesterday? And do you remember how many meals you had the day before yesterday? Was it one meal...two...or three? There're a lot of people who eat only one meal a day. They say they're just "too busy to eat." They skip breakfast and lunch and sit down to dinner at the end of the day.

Now these people don't eat dinner at 6:30 or at 7PM, oh no. They're chowing down while watching TV at 8, 9 or even 10PM. Whoa! That's w-a-a-a-y too late to be eating! And you want to hear something else? A lot of those people who eat just one meal a day are overweight or obese. Why? Because they're putting thousands of calories into their bodies all at one time and at an bewitching hour to boot. And you need to know that eating only one meal a day doesn't send fireworks into the air for you, either! It's simply not a good idea. When you eat only one meal a day, your chances for losing weight aren't very good. Now let's move on to two meals a day. Most people have breakfast, skip lunch and later have dinner. These people use the excuse that they're not hungry or that they don't have time for lunch. Look, when you skip lunch, you can go into a lazy mode. And when you go into lazy mode, you don't get your work done. Or you get it done at a much slower pace. A lot of people who don't eat lunch end up yawning in the afternoon and want to drop their heads onto the keyboard of their computers dozing off for a little nap. (Hey, that's no good, either!) And the people who write me about skipping one meal a day, well, they're also not losing weight.

Why look! It's time to talk about eating three meals a day. Now look, you really need breakfast. While you're asleep, your body is fasting. And in the morning, your body needs to eat to give you the energy boost you need to start your day. You also need lunch. You need to nourish your body again midday. And of course, you need dinner. This is the time of day, again, where you need to refuel your body with nourishment. That's because a few hours after dinner, you'll be going to bed for that overnight fast your body goes through as you sleep. Now people who eat big breakfasts, lunches and dinners also have weight problems. So remember, it's those people who eat three balanced meals a day who will lose the weight and get healthier.

I've tried eating one meal or only two meals a day to lose weight. I've also tried eating no meals a day, that is...starving to lose weight. But I'm telling you, when it comes to your eating healthy & balanced meals each day, three is the magic number. I hope you'll make time this weekend to plan your meals for the next week. That's what I do and hey, it's also how I keep my cute little shape! Love,
