Guest guest
HOW TO LOSE 100 POUNDS Thursday, 20 May 2010 I know many men and women who have 100 pounds to lose. Actually, the number of people who have that much weight to lose is quite staggering. I'm telling you, I know thousands and thousands of people who need to drop 100 pounds. Or, put another way, who have 350,000 calories to lose...wow! Now there's a number that can just about make you faint, huh? When people have 100 pounds to lose, it can be quite overwhelming. And that's why so many people think it's impossible to lose that amount of weight. But first, let's talk about how you gain 100 pounds in the first place. You began by not caring about yourself. Maybe something happened to put you in a terrible funk then pushed you to food for "comfort." You didn't want to bother with chopping up romaine lettuce for a healthy salad. You'd rather reach for that bowl of chocolate-chip ice cream instead. You had little interest in lacing up your cross-trainers and going for a walk. You chose to be physically lazy and to eat just about anything you wanted...any time you wanted. First you gained one pound, then ten and five months later you'd gained 50 pounds. By then, you could no longer fit comfortably into your clothes. Later, your birthday rolled around and of course, it was time to celebrate. Then there was Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve...more reasons to "celebrate." And eventually it happened. You step on that scale and you didn't weigh 150 pounds anymore. You were up to 250 pounds and you couldn't believe it! You even stepped on the scale again, thinking there must me something wrong with it. But after about five weigh-ins and seeing the same number appear each time, the truth finally sank in. You'd gained 100 pounds and of course, you were just crushed about it!Taking a seat in a chair, your face falls into you hands as you begin questioning yourself. How could I have let this happen? What have I done to my body? You're so upset, you end up going into the kitchen to eat thinking that's gonna comfort you...again! (Hey, by the time you finish that little woe-is-me eating episode, you could get up to one hundred and ONE pounds overweight!) Later, you start with the I'll never lose this weight stage of your depression. I know these stages oh-so-well because I've been through all of them myself. Oh yes, at one time in my life, I did lose 100 pounds then gain it back. Have you done it, too? Hey, it takes a lot of hard work to lose 100 pounds and...no "work" at all to gain the weight back. (Seems so unfair, doesn't it?) If you have 100 pounds to lose, please don't feel defeated thinking you can't lose it because...you can! You have to establish some rules for yourself and then you have to stick to those rules. And you know the rules, too.You have to cut back on your calorie consumption and fat grams and you have to exercise like a sweatin' fool. Then it'll begin. You'll lose one pound, then ten. And when you lose 50 pounds this time, you'll begin slipping back into the clothes you once felt and looked so good in. And one day, in 1-2 years, you'll step on the scale and discover those 100 pounds are...gone!Love,
Guest guest
I really needed to read this post today. I feel overwhelmed most of the time and dieting doesn't seem worth it. But it is worth it and I was making progress until I had myself a pity party. Got my head on straight today. Gonna lose this one pound at a time and stop giving up the moment I'm not perfect.
