Guest guest
I'M SORRY Thursday, 08 April 2010 I love receiving e-mails from all of you and I receive quite a lot of them, too. I read each e-mail at least a couple of times. I gather my thoughts then send a reply to the person who has written me. And if their e-mail contains a number of very serious issues, I often pick up the phone and call that person who wrote. A few days ago, I received an e-mail from a lady we'll call "Dorothy." She used to write me every couple of weeks. Dorothy has a history of struggling with her weight and it had been a while since I heard from her. Until one day, lo-and-behold, she wrote me again."Dear : I haven't written you in a while because I don't have any good news for you. A lot of things have happened in my life and I have to admit, I fell off the wagon and began overeating again. I'm so ashamed to tell you that I've gained back 35 pounds and now I'm back up to 270 pounds. I just feel so horrible and want to say, I'm sorry . I'm sorry for letting your down."In her e-mail, Dorothy also asked me to "forgive her." Now the truth of the matter is that when some of you gain weight, it truly does affect me. See, I try so hard to set a good example for all of you. I work hard trying to educate you on how to lose weight the right way and to maintain your weight-loss. You know that when you lose weight, you feel great and...I do too, for you! Your good news puts me on top of the world! And when you regain 20, 50 or even 100 pounds, I get a real hurt in my heart...for you! I know how you feel putting those amounts of weight back on. But please know this: I'm not upset with you for gaining back the weight. In fact, truth is...sadness is closer to what I feel.See, I know that many of you have been, like Dorothy, struggling to lose weight for more than half your lives. That's why I always say to everyone who writes me, don't wait to tell me you've regained 25 pounds. Let me know when you've gained back five...or even three pounds so we can get to work correcting the problem! Now I don't know about you but I can feel every single pound I gain. Oh, I just feel like such a s-l-o-o-o-w snail if I put on weight. I'm telling you, it takes my energy away. What you've got to do is be consistent with journaling and keeping track of what you weigh and...what you eat! And when you gain back a few pounds, you need to figure out just what led to your putting those pounds back on. You have to stop eating the way you may have been eating and begin paying closer attention to how much exercise you're doing on a regular basis. Do that and the pounds you gained back? Well, you can take them right back off!So remember, you don't "let me down" when you regain weight. You're letting yourself down. And I know the only thing you want to be "down" in your life is...your weight! I know how good you feel when you stay on program and...see good results!Love,
