Guest guest
The other day I got on before I did 7 hrs of shoveling. Weighed 249. The next day weighed 252. Follow day 248. That is why they advise to do once a week. Keep the faith. Feb is almost here. LOL N.H.
Guest guest
So I got down to my newest low, now I'm up five pounds. What is up with these fluctuations?? I've been good! I know it will be gone in a day or so but darn! One thing, I sure need to stop weighing 4 and 5 times a week. When did I start that?! Its so frustrating. *~*~*~* "You can deprive the body, but the soul needs chocolate" -Sapphyre *~*~*~* "Meditate. Live purely. Be quiet. Do your work with mastery. Guest guest
LOL! You sure DO need to stop weighing all the time. What I've done is pick one day - Tuesday, which I KNOW is a strange day, but in all honesty it's probably the most 'real' day of the week for my weight figuring that I tend to eat more on the weekends. And if that day doesn't produce a weight near what I expect I 'allow' myself to weigh again Wednesday morning. I'm NOT allowed on or near the scale any other day, LOL. Just an idea, fireangel > > So I got down to my newest low, now I'm up five pounds. What is up with these fluctuations?? I've been good! I know it will be gone in a day or so but darn! Guest guest
It actually makes sense that you weighed more after all that work, LOL! That is exactly the reason they recommend you don't weigh or measure after working out. Your muscles swell and retain water, so you are bound to weigh more, and as we all know it takes a few days for the water retention to let go. Bet you'll weigh less next week 'cause of all your work! As long as you didn't make up for it by eating. fireangel > > The other day I got on before I did 7 hrs of shoveling. Weighed 249. The > next day weighed 252. Follow day 248. Guest guest
LOL what's so special about Feb ?? I see you keep saying Feb is almost here. I weigh daily, but I keep in mind what I have done for activity and how I am eating to see the trends. Re: Darn Fluctuations! The other day I got on before I did 7 hrs of shoveling. Weighed 249. That is exactly the reason they recommend you don't weigh or measure after working out. Your muscles swell and retain water, so you are bound to weigh more, and as we all know it takes a few days for the water retention to let go. This is one of the many reasons I really *don't* want to get weighed at rehab every Monday. If they weighed up before we did our workouts it wouldn't be too bad, but even then every single one of us has already had not just breakfast but water with our heart meds, and I don't know about the rest of them, but on more than 1 of my meds (my BP and 2 asthma meds) the labels say to drink a minimum of 8 ounces of water with *each* so in my case I've had a minimum of 16 ounces of water - a pound's worth - before I even leave the house! Of the three nurses there, one agrees that a weight under the circumstances they set up is silly and she doesn't know why they even have us do it but she records it because it's the rule; one other treats it as if it's an actual accurate weight and has reprimanded some of the men so often in the past that they refuse to even take a sip of water during their workout even though they're dripping with sweat and panting, for fear the scale will show an ounce increase and this nurse will say something to them about their weight. The other doesn't even bother asking us to weigh in, but she can do that - she's the head nurse. But at home, I'm one of those people guilty of weighing in daily and getting angry and frustrated if it shows no loss or a gain from day to day, even though intellectually I *know* weight fluctuates daily and that I may have had a little more salt the day before or didn't hit the bathroom yet that morning. I *would* hope that the scale breaks soon and then plan on not replacing it, but my son and husband both hop on it now and then to keep track of their own weights and they're the ones who insisted we replace the last one when it broke. They're both the type of person who can see a 5 pound gain, skip drinking a second soda at dinner or have a handful less potato chips while watching tv for 2 days and be right back down. You know - men! LOL Sue in NJ
