Guest guest
"HAVE YOU LOST WEIGHT?!" Monday, 29 March 2010 There's a young lady who comes to class who's had a weight problem for most of her life. She began coming to Slimmons with her mother and, I'm glad to say, has kept coming on her own. I can still remember that first time she came to class. I could tell she was nervous. She stood in the last row, way in the back of the room. But I did keep my eye on her during class. When the music started, there was a big smile on her face. And as the beat kept going, she started moving like a professional dancer. I must say, I was really impressed by her energy.I just had to say hello to her after class and when we talked, she asked if I would help her learn to eat better. I was more than happy to help her! I sat down with her and showed her the FoodMover, my system that helps you eat better and lose weight and how it works. I even gave her some meal suggestions. And I let her know how good she would feel by losing those 30 pounds she confessed to wanting to lose.Well, she started coming to Slimmons three days a week. And on those days she wasn't with us, she'd get her exercise in my walking on her mother's treadmill. And every time she came to class, she told me what she'd been eating the past few days. I'm telling you, this young lady made a complete turnaround with her eating habits and in her exercise routine. And that turn around was both physical and mental. (A winning combination.) No longer was she hiding out in the back of the class. She began arriving early so she could get a spot right up front and look at how good she was doing during class in one of the studio's mirrors.Soon, she'd lost her first ten pounds and after that, it began to happen. She started getting asked, the question...Have you lost weight?! All of my students would gather around before or after class and give her hugs along with a big congratulatory...You're looking so good! And the compliments weren't coming only from her fellow students at Slimmons. She was getting them everyday, at school, at work and from her family. And now, six months after I first met her, this sweet young lady has reached her goal of losing every one of the 30 pounds she wanted to lose. Isn't that fabulous! She's just loving all the compliments she's receiving and wait, get this. She's dropped three jeans sizes and has given herself the cutest makeover complete with a brand new hair style! (Talk about your Cinderellas!) And by the way, she still comes to class to help make sure her weight-loss...lasts! I know, sometimes you may not see your weight-loss when you look in the mirror. But boy, everyone else does...when you stay on program! And yes, that's hard part...staying on program. But I know it's inside you. I know that dream of yours of getting to a healthy weight is something you want really badly. And everyday you stay on program, you should go to the mirror and congratulate yourself. Give yourself a cute little wink and tell yourself how proud you are...of you. That'll help keep you going, my friends. Have you lost weight? Have you been receiving compliments? Yeah? Oh, doesn't it make you feel so-o-o-o good!Love,
Guest guest
I don’t see people while living on the truck and so I don't get compliments. I was thinking about this yesterday....how I have no frame of reference other than what I can see between the photographs I take. My husband isn't into looks and rarely compliments me. "I can see it in your face" was one comment and he noticed my wedding ring was loose....but that's because he can no longer wear his. Since he also has a weight problem, his point of view is more about where he is at in his weight. Some husband's just don't see their wives I think. If he does, he doesn't say. I am excited about seeing my daughter, son in law and grandchildren at the end of summer. I wonder how much I will weigh then, my hope is at about 220 pounds. That would be an 87 pound loss, I am pretty sure they would notice. But of all things, I will fee guilty, as my daughter will be in the last few weeks of her pregnancy and might feel annoyed about it. She had the gastric band done and it wasn't working as well for her as she had hoped. I know, it makes no sense to feel that way, but I do. I guess I am my own cheerleader. Rah Rah. Guest guest
Ann my husband doesn't notice either. And I don't say anything about it. Sometimes it kinda hurts my feelings because really he's the only person I care about noticing.. other people notice though. But I'll cheer for you Ann! GOOOOooooOOOOOO ANN! Guest guest
Two thoughts. One is you could always post pics here on the group and we could really Ra Ra you. Second is to take those pics even if you don't post them here in the same clothing. Or maybe take them both in the old clothing and something 'new' that fits. fireangel > > I don't see people while living on the truck and so I don't get compliments. Guest guest
Ya know, I'm not so sure that they don't notice it as much as they don't know what or how to say it. I think sometimes it's as simple as they've seen us do it before and then quit and go back up again and they're not sure how to enourage us. Being afraid that they might say/do the wrong thing. My soon-to-be ex will/can encourage me in my efforts in email easily, telling me things like I should be proud of what I'm accomplishing, etc, etc. But in person he can't get the words out. I know I look very different now at over 50 pounds down, but he still can't tell me except to nod or agree when " I " say something about the fit of my new clothing or something else. fireangel > > > > I don't see people while living on the truck and so I don't get compliments.
