Guest guest
TOUCHDOWN! Sunday, 07 February 2010 I never played football when I was a kid. I've told you before that I had really bad asthma so I couldn't even run or I'd end up having an asthma attack. And let's also just say I was not too "light" on my feet. And oh, catching a ball really scared me. I thought the football would end up hitting me in the face! The other boys in school played football and they looked so great doing it. My brother, Lenny, loved football. He'd watch games on TV and was glued to the screen the whole time. I'm telling you, he knew the names of every player on the teams and even knew their numbers.Later in life, when he attended Tulane University in New Orleans, Lenny became a manager of the school's football team. My brother, I was so proud of him. He'd come home and tell us about all of the football players, the positions they played and, I'm telling you, I didn't know what the heck he was talking about! I've never attended a football game. Hey, I wouldn't know what they were doing down on that field. I know what I'd be doing, though. I'd be looking for the guy who sold the peanuts and popcorn, that's what! The nearest I ever came to a Super Bowl was a few years ago, when I did an ad for Bridgestone Tires that aired during the big game. And, I may as well be honest, Super Bowls never meant too much for me. That is...until now!My hometown of New Orleans has had it pretty tough the past few years. Ever since Hurricane Katrina struck the city, New Orleans lost some of its spirit. As you know, Katrina devastated our city. But I'm happy to report that we are coming back strong. New Orleans really needed a big shot in the arm and now...we've got it. That's where our hometown team, the New Orleans Saints come in. We're going to the Super Bowl! The Saints had one sensational season this year and it has really paid off. After their victory against the Minnesota Vikings in the Superdome two weeks ago, my hometown team earned the honor of playing in the Super Bowl in Miami today against the Indianapolis Colts. Oh, we are so proud of our Saints!Lots of people know I'm a New Orleans boy and lately, during my travels, so many guys have walked up to me and said, "What do you think about those Saints of yours, ?" At first, I'd look at them and think to myself, "Which ones are they talking about, St. , St. or St. ph." But then I got it, oh...they're talking about those Saints...our New Orleans Saints! I'm telling you, the whole city is really abuzz about the incredible team we have this year. And just like everyone else in New Orleans, I'm really pulling for our Saints today! I can only imagine what the French Quarter will be like this weekend. I'm sure it'll be just like Mardi Gras all the way through the game! All right you New Orleans Saints, now listen up! I'm gonna be keeping you in my prayers all day today and I'm believing you're going to win this game!Good luck to our Saints!Love,
