Guest guest
Actual steps logged in 2009: 4,749,013 (that's 2374 miles) Total steps logged since 2005: 15,225,528 (7612 miles overall!) 2010 goal: 15820 per day (LOL) ** this is what I need to get to 21,000,000 steps overall [21 million] I feel that is a good and fair exercise goal for the year, because some days will be high and some will be low, depending on my training schedule(s). ** This may need tweaked mid-year depending on what I decide is happening (or not happening) for races to participate in. Weight-wise, I am ending December 2009 with a .2 gain, which is really small enough to consider a maintain. Overall for 2009, it looks like this: Weight 1/1/09: 257.2 Weight 12/31/09: 267.6 ..... yes, I see it. That's a net gain of 10.4 lbs In my defense (as if I need one LOL) 4.0 of that has been since October 1 when the whirlwind month(s) of moving to my mother's house and working crazy hours at Wal*Mart started! Sure, I was moving my body in the form of work and travel 18 hrs a day, but there was crap eating and no structured cardio or weight training for 2 months. People: stay on top of what is happening in your life! I have been on top of this all year and honestly, I have known since my surgery at the end of August and then all the CRAP started in October that I would have a gain this year and my goal since has been to do as much damage control and keep it as small as possible. Am I happy to report a ten and a half pound gain this year? Heck no! But, it is much smaller than it could have been, trust me! 2010 will be better! I feel it already! My goal (once again) is to release 60 lbs from my body, so technically 207.something - I will do an official 1/1/10 weigh-in tomorrow morning though, in case there are any fluctuations overnight. I'd like to accelerate "something" to get to onederland in this next year, but I will take what I am given and earn. I do wish you all a healthy and happy new year! in WA 310 / 267.6 / ? Guest guest
,Good for you for writing down your goals. I think maybe I need to do that. I haven't kept record of my weight/exercise or food since August 2007... maybe that is why I have gained over 25 pounds since then! Last year at this time, I started logging on Spark People, but it soon got overwhelming to remember it all. I need to simply my goals. I was at a book store this week and was going to get a food journal, but that too I figured I would NOT stick with. So, now, I need to think about what I can do and stick to...Since Christmas, I have exercised 4 of the 5 days. My husband bought me a new ipod so that has helped to have my own music. (I had my sister's ipod) So, I will spend some time today figuring out what I will be able to do stick to...Happy new year to everyone. apmleehere@...From: "ABrite@..." <ABrite@...>ABrite@...Sent: Thu, December 31, 2009 10:39:52 PMSubject: Winding down 2009 Actual steps logged in 2009: 4,749,013 (that's 2374 miles) Total steps logged since 2005: 15,225,528 (7612 miles overall!) 2010 goal: 15820 per day (LOL) ** this is what I need to get to 21,000,000 steps overall [21 million] I feel that is a good and fair exercise goal for the year, because some days will be high and some will be low, depending on my training schedule(s). ** This may need tweaked mid-year depending on what I decide is happening (or not happening) for races to participate in. Guest guest
, I think your attitude says it all! Regardless of what happened in your life last year (I can say that today, LOL!) This really is a New Year with new goals. Even with the 10 pound gain, I would consider your last year a successful year of Maintenance. You consistently worked on your health and succeeded, through trials that you never would have in the past. AND what a really GREAT Goal to work for this year - Reaching 21 MILLION steps! Keep at it, start some portions anew and you will reach Onederland before the end of this year! Guest guest
a, When you're thinking remember that often a small step will lead to bigger ones in the end. You might want to consider changing or adding just a single thing to your life that will help make a difference. Something that you can consistantly do without a terrible amount of effort that helps with your health. The largest change I made back at the very beginning of June was to add a salad to my dinner. That was it, just add a salad. I didn't worry about the dressing, I didn't worry about the other items I was eating. I just added that salad. From there it took on it's own life without me even realizing it, and I've succeeded in taking off a bit over 40 lbs since then. Just try one thing, something that you can get yourself to do day in and day out, then go from there. fireangel > > , > > Good for you for writing down your goals. I think maybe I need to do that. Guest guest
Thanks for your input fireangel.I know what you mean about changing one thing. Up until August 2007, I had lost 130 pounds... Now, I have gained back about 25 of those pounds. I do NOT want to keep on gaining! I need to get back to where I was. I did start slow and changed one thing at a time. Now, the past few years, I have slowly gotten a bit lazy with exercising and eating healthier. (I got married and lots changed, and exercise and eating healthier got a bit tougher.) When it was just me, I didn't have to worry about what to cook for another. I just ate my lean cuisines and salads. I had a 4 minute commute, so I exercised either in the morning or right when I got home from work. Now I have a 40-50 minute commute. I make the excuse that I am driving during my exercise time. I just have to re-adjust... I have been rationalizing and making excuses for over a year now. So, I am going to try to increase my exercise to be more consistent. I will aim for 2-3 times a week at first, then bump it up to 3-4 then up to 4-5. (I hope to be up to 4-5 by the time it is spring when I can do more outside activities and it won't be so difficult.) The eating habit I have to STOP is the mindless munching at work. (Too many candy dishes and treats in the lounge...) When I was losing the weight in 2005-2007, I resisted the temptation. I can do it again!Well, I also resolved to spend less time on the computer, so I best be going. Thanks again,a apmleehere@...From: fireangel <fireangell@...>100-plus Sent: Fri, January 1, 2010 9:10:38 AMSubject: Re: Winding down 2009 a, When you're thinking remember that often a small step will lead to bigger ones in the end. Guest guest
a, I quit the online trackers too - just too much more effort to go there, look the food up and log it in than writing it in a plain ol' journal. So, I got a new one for the new year [think composition notebook the kids use for school LOL] and write my weight, food and exercise in it each day. If I need 2-3 more to get through the entire year, I'll get more. I guess it doesn't matter where or how you do it, it just matters that we do it. Nike had a good slogan: Just Do It! I have a bookmark at my desk at work that I grabbed from one of the local colleges it says "WE MEAN BUSINESS" to keep in sight at work. Guest guest
a, It sounds like you know exactly what you need to work on and that is the first step to success. Funny that you mention the things that changed for you when you got married. I thouroughly understand but for the opposite reason. My husband and I separated in July and slowly I began to do things for Me, to make changes and choose activities and foods for Me. It has been a very different journey after having been married for 15 years and always putting someone else first. My husband came to dinner last night and we even talked about the difference in both our choices since we are now separated. Don't know where it will lead if anywhere at all, but it WAS very interesting that we actually both recognized the differences. You can do this again, AND you can do it while loving both yourself and your husband. Good communication is what can make the difference. fireangel > > Thanks for your input fireangel. > > I know what you mean about changing one thing. Up until August 2007, I had lost 130 pounds...
