I RESOLVE: PART 2

Thursday, 31 December 2009

Happy New Year's Eve to you! I'm sitting here in my hotel room wrapped in a blanket because...I'm freezing cold! I'm here in Philadelphia to do QVC today. I'll be featuring my Sweatin' series and some of my other DVDs. I'll have Sweatin' To The Oldies 1, 2, 3 & 4. I'll also be featuring Party Off The Pounds and Boogie Down The Pounds. I'll be on three times today and, hopefully, I'll be able to get lots of people motivated to start working out again in 2010.

I hope you read yesterday's message. If you did, you'll recall we were talking about New Year's resolutions. I was telling you about some of the resolutions I've made in the past. And I was just about to tell you my fifth resolution. And that resolution was my promise to become a better listener. This year, I worked hard to focus more on what other people were saying to me. I wasn't thinking about what I was going to say in response to what they were saying. I was going to concentrate more on what they were saying. This year, I certainly have improved my listening techniques. And today for a few minutes, I'd really like for you to listen to me.Oh I know, some people don't even make resolutions. That's because they don't believe making resolutions will do them any good. These kinds of people are a little sour on life, if you ask me. They see the rain coning down but never look for the rainbow that follows. These are people filled with self-doubt and as a result, they end up not having very much self-love. Now that's not a winning combination, is it?

I wonder if you made New Year's resolutions for yourself last year, the year before or even back in 1996 for that matter! I've always made New Year's resolutions because I've always wanted to improve myself. And that's what making and keeping your resolutions allows you to do.And remember, it's not just good to make those resolutions. You have to make them come true. And how do you do that? Well, you do it by reviewing the resolutions you've made for yourself...everyday. I took my own list of resolutions on every trip I made this year. I keep them in my wallet and constantly check on how well I'm doing at keeping them. You should find some quiet time and make your list of resolutions in private. Sit down and really think about what you want to accomplish in the new year. Think about what you can do to make your life better. As you sit and think honestly, that list of accomplishments you want in the new year will come from your heart.

Some of your resolutions could be about better managing your time, money or getting a new job. Maybe you'll make a resolution about the relationship you're in or even starting a relationship. Some of the resolutions you make may have to do with how you want to improve other areas of your life. Making this list isn't easy and it may take you a while to do it. You may even change some resolutions you began with or make some new ones. It's sort of like assembling a puzzle. And, let's face it, we're all just one big complicated puzzle anyway.

After finishing your list, you should put it somewhere no one else will find it. No one should read your list of resolutions but you. And you know, there's a feeling of accomplishment when you've made such an important list as this for yourself. It becomes like you own personal "Ten Commandments." And when you look at your list, you must believe that you can accomplish all of the resolutions you've made.I am living proof that making resolutions works. See, if you want something bad enough, you'll work hard to get it. So today, here in my hotel room, I will make my list of New Year's Resolutions for 2010. All year long, I will follow it to be the best of my abilities. And today, I'll be talking about the importance of making and keeping those New Year's resolutions on QVC. Hope you'll be watching. In the meantime, I hope you'll make this last day of 2009 a very successful one for yourself!Love,
