Guest guest
HALF OF ME! Tuesday, 23 February 2010 sent me an e-mail about the struggles she's had with her weight over the years. At one point, she had 20 pounds to lose. Years later, that number increased to 50 pounds. And because of a multitude of reasons and a few too many excuses, 's weight had reached an all-time high of 270 pounds. At this point in her life, admitted that to now reach her weight-loss goal, she would have to lose half of her weight. That realization just devastated her! thought to herself, "I have the weight of two bodies in my one body. Every time I walk, I'm taking that extra person along with me. And when I go up a flight of stairs, I feel like that extra person is sitting on my shoulders." even thought to herself as she was eating that she was actually eating for two people! So she asked me, ", how do I lose half of me?" Well, I guess a person could go to a magic show and have some magician put them in one of those boxes and saw them in half. But which half would they keep? LOL. Okay, all kidding aside. I e-mailed and told her that she was very correct in her thinking. It's like, inside her body, there really was like a I and a II. I told her that if she took a really good look at her weight problem, then she would be able to come up with the solution to solving it. And I was ready to help her find that solution. And the first part of that solution was for her to eat a lot less of what she'd been eating. You can all follow this example, too. Let's say you're supposed to be eating 1600 calories a day but you're eating more like 3200 calories a day. Well, get a FoodMover in the Clubhouse Store and learn your proper portions. Then, start sticking to those portions and you'll begin seeing the results you want to see. And I'll admit, at first, that may not be so easy to do.See, as we overeat, the size of our stomachs increase to accommodate all of the food we've forced them to get used to holding. So at first when you lower the number of calories you consume, your stomach sort of shouts..."Hey! Where's the rest of the food you're supposed to be feeding me?!" But as you begin eating healthier and in the right-size portions, that is, sticking to the right number of calories you should be having, your stomach will decrease in size as it gets used to your new healthier way of eating. had not exercised regularly in a long time either. (I'm already seeing part two of her solution.) She'd said that exercise made her body "sore." But I told her that as she reduced her caloric consumption, she had to increase how much she moved her body. I told that she should make a plan for her exercise. For instance, she could try an activity as simple as going for walks in her neighborhood everyday. She could start out by walking once around her block everyday but to increase that walk by an extra block each week. There are many YMCA & YWCAs around the country that have indoor swimming pools or offer water-aerobics classes. These classes burn a lot of calories and they're fun, too! Yes, it's hard to look at those big numbers when you're just beginning a weight-loss program. But you must not focus solely on the number. You have to focus on what you're gonna have to do to reduce those numbers on you scale. Now, my question for you today is: Are you eating for two...or for one?Love,
