Guest guest
OFF FOR A NEW ADVENTURE! Friday, 29 January 2010 I'm leaving Los Angeles this morning heading over to Halifax, Nova Scotia in beautiful Canada. I've been to many cities in Canada including Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto and Edmonton. But I've never had the pleasure of visiting Nova Scotia. Ya' know, I even love the name...Nova Scotia. It's such a pretty name. I hear it's a very pretty place too and, this time of year, it's a very pretty cold place. Every year, I try to pick some places I've never been before and, this year Halifax, get ready because...here I come!I'm going to Halifax for a big fundraiser called Bust A Move For Breast Health. Some 700 women in Nova Scotia are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. And sadly, there are not enough mammogram machines in the province to help diagnose all of those women. But all of the monies raised from this fundraiser will go to help solve this shortage my purchasing new machines to fill the void. Now when it comes to breast cancer, it's all about early detection. Even if you don't feel anything during your own self-examination, it's still wise to get your annual mammogram. So many women in the U.S., in Canada and most probably all over the world have a fear of going in for a mammogram. That's because everyone's afraid of the "C" word. Yes, we're all a little afraid of the unknown. But in this case, knowing puts you at an advantage!I can't wait to get to Halifax late tonight then teach my big sweatin' class tomorrow. We have lots of people signed up for my class and, you can bet, I'm gonna dance my little heart out for all of them! Many of those attending will have collected pledges in their communities for this cause. Isn't it wonderful when a whole community comes together and puts on something as worthwhile as Halifax' Bust A Move For Breast Health Day? Since I've heard how beautiful Halifax is, I hope I have some time to drive around in a warm car so I can see a lot of the city. This fundraiser takes place at the Halifax Metro Center which sits right at the city's waterfront. For about three months, I've been receiving E-mails from people who're coming out to see me tomorrow. I've called many of them and we've chatted about the event. I'm really looking forward to meeting them and all of the people who're coming out to sweat with me.I'm going to miss teaching class at Slimmons tomorrow but I know all of my students understand where I'm going and why I'm going. I know they'll have a great class tomorrow because, well...all of my teachers are great!Okay, let me go pack some warm Dolfin shorts!Love,
