YOU GO GIRL! Awesome job of kicking yourself in the butt :). Most

of the time I get up and do my workout. But I've found that if

there's times when I don't feel like working out, I come to this

message board and always seem to find something inspirational! Works

every time (except for the times I didn't even get out of bed) :).

Keep up the good work!

Well put! This line especially hit home for me.

> So, the point is, why do we sometimes argue *for* our weaknesses?

This is going to be a big area of re-training for me. I can

rationalize ANY decision based on my weaknesses.

I'm focusing on reaching the point where my workouts in the morning

are as non-negotiable as taking a shower or eating breakfast.

Motivation

Hi All,

Something happened in my brain this morning that I want to share with all of

you -- maybe I can give back some of the motivation that I've received so

far.

This morning, I woke up late. I was supposed to be out running by 6:00. At

6:30 my dd woke me up to take her over to the church for her early-morning

religion class, and as I was returning, I was justifying to myself my

decision to not run when I got home. It all made perfect sense:

--I could run later in the day.

--It was wet out, and it might start to sprinkle again.

--I was tired.

--I don't like to run this late in the morning - there are people out who

will see me - with my pitiful endurance.

--It doesn't really matter when I go.

--I needed to get ready for work.

--I could spend the few extra minutes making protein pancakes for eating at

work.

--I had too much to do before it was time to get the boys off to school.

Makes sense, right? Who in their right mind would go ahead and run????

(A person committed to change, that's who!)

Anyhow, with the plan of *not* running, I entered the house (6:38) and went

straight to the computer. I *had* to check my email. Well, some wonderful

person in our group had posted a comment that struck me right between the

eyeballs....Something about how week 8 is when the changes really start to

happen.

I'm in week 8. And my thought suddenly was, HOW WILL I CHANGE IF I'M NOT

WORKING OUT????? I can't change without giving it my ALL!!!

So, because I expect to see those changes, I went back to the bedroom and

changed into my workout clothes. I told my husband " See ya! " and I left

about 7:10. Yes, I got back later than usual, but so what??? The adrenoline

from running got me moving faster than usual, and the boys were on time to

school *with* their lunches, and having already put away their clothes and

unloaded the dishwasher! Plus they had a hot breakfast! I didn't have to pry

them away from the computer, as I never let them in there --- I needed their

help to get them ready on time.

So, the point is, why do we sometimes argue *for* our weaknesses?

The " old " , the BOB in me, would have make excuse after excuse about

why it made more sense to workout later on. And I might have, or I might NOT

have. (We're expecting a storm that would have probably discouraged me from

running.)

The " new " , the one who's seeing improvement in many areas, is now in

the Driver's Seat of her life. Expect big results!

Oh yes, when doesn't feel like doing something it just isn't going to

happen. This is much more apparent when he has a sinus infection or is somehow

not feeling well. But, when I look at the big picture this is much better than

when we would get VERY upset and get out of control for an hour over one

transition.

Donna, how I know about the bath issues. used to get a bath or shower

every a.m. I dreaded mornings. I used every motivator I could think of. Silly

string after everything was done was fun for several months. Then he was just

done with it. Bummer!

For those of you who have aggressive 5year olds or even 9 year olds, have

faith. was very aggressive. Now I only see it when very frustrated with

his

brother or a rare blow up. His in-home therapists and I were commenting on

how many " precautions " we had to take to keep ourselves safe (never bend over in

front of , he'd kick you in the face, and on and on).

He is still a handful and needs one on one most of the time but nothing like

Just had to share that it does get better.

LOL!! I tried using the foamy soap as a motivator for . DUH, he loves

eating things like suds. He loved to eat it. Not exactly the motivation I was

going for.

Trial and error!!

,

I try to make sure that the bath isn't the end of the fun. used to make

his towel into Buzz's rocket and we'd pretend he was flying somewhere or a

firetruck.

This may sound bad but watching over weight people eat bad food

motivates me. I think to myself 'If I ate that I'd look like that'

Knowing that last year I could not bench press my bar(45 lbs)now I'm

adding 30 lbs to it for a total of 75 lbs. Actully I haven't done

this one in a while, bet I can do more now.

Before BFL I was having headaches everyday, I was lightheaded all the

time, I had migraines several times a month. Almost gone now, still

get a few headaches. I use to live on tums, now I occasionally I have

a few the day after free day.

2mph was my top speed now it's 5.4

My 19 year old nephew moved in with me last year, he has been

overweight for 10 years. Setting a good example for him motivates me.

He as lost alot of weight just eating right. Has not been measured

but his clothes fit much looser now. He swears if is from walking

around the college campus & from work (Unloading trucks at Sears).

But I know the BFL food has played a big part.

My measurments

5'4 "

weight- 210 was 222 9 weeks ago

chest - 44.75 was 46.75

waist - 44.25 was 47.75

hips - 46.50 was 48.00

Hey Dawn - I'm 5'9 " and right about 190 pounds myself. Measurements are pretty

similar, too, although you got me by a couple of inches in the bust. When did

you start your challenge? I'm in the middle of one but I had surgery last week,

so I'm more just gearing up for the next one, which I plan to start as soon as

this one ends (in just two weeks!).

Well, I am trying it now. I am not a fan of CC but the fruit on top kinda

hides the taste, as long as I have fruit with each bite. :o) I used 3/4

cup of CC and 1/2 cup of fruit. Does draining the juice and rinsing it

reduce the sugars? My can says a half cup has 15 sugars.

I just make sure I mix in at least one packet of Equal or Splenda for

each serving of CC (blended smooth) and fruit, or I just can't swallow

the stuff. Blech. Too reminiscent of lumpy spoiled milk for me in

its natural state. 1/4 t. of vanilla or almond extract, cinnamon, or

pumpkin pie spice helps a lot, too.

funny you should ask that. I am an apple shaped person- at 157 I had a bigger

potbelly, than I do now at 130 lbs,- there's no miracles on this program, just

hard

work and common sense results. I still have a " paunch " - but it does fit into a

size 6.

All of your body parts are worked equally, everything firms up, but there won't

be any

spot-reducing.

Wow, that is great!

I don't know if the pictures are still here but there was a BFL'er

named Mina and she lost a great deal of weight. Her hanging belly

became a flat stomach...and I am sure if you look through the photos

here you may see results.

I think every body is different and we carry fat in different

places. I think people associate the paunch with older women but I

know women in their late teens and early twenties that have them

too. And conversly, women in middle age that have rock hard and flat

stomachs.

It sounds like you are doing very well in your pursuits. What have

you done and why are you looking to change? Congratulation on your

first 60 and let us know how you are doing if you start BFL to work

on the final 60!

Linet -

Is this your first child? I don't know you, but it sounds like you are

mixing post-natal emotions in with your food/nutrition/exercise emotions....

I am in my 9th week, of my first challenge; I have lost a grand total of

about 3-5 pounds, and my body fat % hasn't changed (on either my Tanita

scale or my Omron bf monitor); somehow, however, I have gone down a size in

clothing from 14 to 12..... and the 14's weren't loose on me at the

beginning of the challenge! Can't quite figure that out...

I also suggest that it's helpful to read books about why we overeat - right

Hi Linet,

I don't have the words to motivate you, but a while back in September

posted an e-mail to the group that inspired me greatly, and I saved

it. I am hoping you will see that everyone has times when they are not

motivated, and times of tragedy.. but they keep going. Tom Archipley, the

no this is my 4th child. That is why i can not figure what is going on i

have done this whole ordeal twice before after 3 children and lost all the

weight and even more than what i wanted to. I really think that i am to focus on

the weight part of it all and not the over all get healthly part of it. The

last time i did bfl i was more focus i just getting healthy and the weight well

it started coming off. I guess i feel presured from myself. I beat myself up

about how much i gained with this baby instead of just saying to myself that

i am at a good start to a healther me. I do some changes on the inside of me

like i sleep better and can do cardio without dying and more energy. I make

all type excuses like for one i should be going to sleep early in order to

proform well on my workouts the next morning. Just last night my husband said

stop making all these excuses why you can not go to sleep early and just do it

it is for your health and he is totally right. I guess i am not focus on

myself at least not 100% like i should be.

Thank you all for you kind words

sometimes i do not respond to emails but i do read them all and it keeps me

going.
